Job Summary

AmeriLife is currently looking for a Benefits and Compensation Manager to join our team! The Benefits and Compensation Manager will partner with the HR team and Distribution leaders to leverage compensation and benefits programs to meet organizational objectives, with a strong emphasis on Distribution Compensation and M&A due diligence. Reporting to the VP, Human Resources this position should enjoy analytical work and problem-solving in a dynamic environment, with the ability to independently prioritize multiple assignments. Strong communication skills are essential to effectively collaborate across different functional teams in a highly dynamic and matrix environment.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ongoing research on compensation and benefits analysis to support business decision making.
  • Attend regular meetings with internal HR team and business, participate in the Proposal Process, and provide guidance on compensation and benefits aspects of all proposal efforts.
  • Assist with market studies and analysis to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and alignment to the company’s compensation philosophy for all levels of jobs, job families and locations.
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Operations to set compensation plans and establish processes to ensure accurate and timely payment and provide support to distribution teams.
  • Ensures that Distribution compensation adhere to terms and provisions of employment contracts, federal laws, state regulations, and company guidelines and that all information is maintained as confidential.
  • Understanding of compensation processes, calculations and payment processes and systems.  Ability to design, build, and implement compensation payment models to support a variety of distribution compensation components.
  • Strong analytical skills to drive data and information analysis leading to business recommendations and decisions.
  • Excellent customer-service orientation and proven ability to partner with division functional customers.
  • Effective problem solver who anticipates issues and seeks out and analyzes information collaboratively to propose solutions. Proven ability to partner with business leaders and customers.   • Develop job descriptions and complete compensation analysis associated with new job requisitions, current employees, and promotion requests by leveraging benchmark, current incumbent, and internal salary range data.
  • Assist in the design, and administration of compensation programs including base pay, sales, and short-term incentive programs.
  • Assist in merit and bonus cycles, validating data, processes, documentation, and systems.
  • Participate in the administration and analysis of annual salary and incentive programs.
  • Serve as an internal expert for benefit plan administration.
  • Leads the HR due diligence analysis in collaboration with the M&A team by assessing target’s compliance practices in labor and employment areas, identifying risks, and advising on a transition and integration plan.
  • Responsible for M&A benefit analysis review of acquired employees and affiliates.
  • Support the administration and auditing of benefit plans.
  • Expert knowledge of employment laws, HR related state and federal regulations, compliance requirements, and human resources best practices as they pertain to Compensation and Benefits practices and procedures.
  • Assist with year-end and ongoing HRIS administration and maintenance as it relates to Compensation and Benefits.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct related experience in compensation with demonstrated aptitude for analytics and problem solving and high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry compensation framework and structure relevant to group products preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of technical Workday experience as compensation or benefits administrator.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to work with large amounts of data leading to business recommendations and decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and communicate process and procedure flow.
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, and to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Excellent presentation, as well oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully interact and develop relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP®) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation or working toward designation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A positive, “can do” attitude.
