Job Description

  • The Associate of Benefits responsible for Health & Welfare interacts closely with colleagues in Talent Management, Benefits COE, LAW, HR and Payroll providing quality services to Business Partners internally while coordinating with external partners to assist in ensuring compliant administration of Amgen’s US health and welfare, tuition reimbursement and executive reimbursement programs. 
  • Responsible for coordinating the US annual enrollment process, including system set up organization activities with vendors. Additionally, the Associate of Benefits stays current on all federal and state regulations.

Key Activities for the Associate Benefits include:

  • Administers Amgen’s benefit programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of Benefits and Talent Management leadership
  • Administers H&W plans in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (ERISA, COBRA, Section 125, etc…)
  • Implements changes in benefit policy
  • Maintains US benefit documentation updating policy and programs supporting Center of Excellence teams
  • Oversees and Maintains User Acceptance Testing with outsourced vendors
  • Coordinates compliance filings (5500s, etc.)
  • Executes associated audits (SOX etc.)
  • Maintains updates on desk procedures
  • Supports development and distribution of benefits communications
  • Implements new programs and administrative processes
  • Collaborates with external partners to ensure payments to employees while supporting compliant administration of benefits
  • Works with benefits administration vendors to recommend process and technology improvements, draft communications
  • Liaise with auditors, both internal and external
  • Responds to employees escalated health benefits queries while providing excellent customer service to a diverse and demanding customer base
  • Manages other activities as assigned

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree

OR 

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Human Resources/Benefits experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 6 years of Human Resources/Benefits experience

OR

High School diploma / GED and 8 years of Human Resources/Benefits experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years demonstrated experience, competence, and accuracy in the administration of complex benefits programs
  • Demonstrated Workday experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with outsourced vendors
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional numeric and spread sheet skills (Excel)
  • Exceptional acumen in data, analytics, detail, and accuracy
  • Exceptional process-orientation approach with strong collaborative skills
  • CEBS qualification
