The Senior Compensation Manager will leverage developed expertise in compensation program design and administration (ideally including base pay, short-term incentives, private company long-term incentive programs and carried interest plans) to support Amherst’s efforts to attract, reward, engage, and retain a high-performing workforce. The Senior Compensation Manager will be part of the Human Capital department, reporting to the Head of Total Rewards and HR Operations, and will work closely with stakeholders across Human Capital, Finance, Legal, and the business.
Responsibilities:

Work with Head of Total Rewards, Chief People Officer, and senior business leadership to design and implement new compensation programs and updates to existing programs. Recommend market-relevant, affordable designs that address business needs and drive performance. Educate stakeholders and plan participants on plan parameters. Partner with Finance and HRIS on tracking of incentive programs and with Legal on program terms and documentation.

Own the administration of multiple long term incentive programs, including reporting and analytics, tracking, data management, statement and award agreement creation and distribution. Track/navigate LTI for former employees.

Develop and lead communication and marketing efforts for compensation programs and processes to increase understanding within Human Capital and across the organization.

Audit Compensation programs, policies, and practices to ensure alignment with company and HR strategies, organizational culture, and appropriate competitive markets/best practices.

Partner closely with Talent Acquisition team, HR Business Partners, and business leaders to understand attraction and retention challenges, provide data-based recommendations, and support the needs of the organization.

Ensure our HRIS system is optimized for compensation management and data capture. Work in close partnership with HRIS team to configure and test the mid-year and year-end compensation processes in Workday.

Oversee year-end compensation planning process.

Stay current on and share trends, best practices, and legislative changes related to the Company’s compensation programs and policies.

Mentor colleagues within Compensation and across The Human Capital team.
Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources or related field

10+ years of Compensation experience including long-term incentives, preferably in the financial services industry and/or HR management consulting

Superior analytical and presentation skills (including Excel and Powerpoint); ability to leverage data to get to “so what?” insights and facilitate sound decision-making

Exceptional project management and time management skills

Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Workday experience and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) designation preferred
Candidate must be based in one of our main hub locations (Austin, TX or New York, NY) Depending on candidate’s location will also determine the salary range
$180k – $230k offered.
