Here’s what you will do…  

Payroll Specialist is responsible for payroll administration through a variety of payroll processing activities and tasks; including establishing and maintaining team member/payroll records, recordkeeping, reporting and other complex payroll/HRIS-related duties.   This role is part of the Finance, Accounting and Compliance team. 

Here’s more of what you will do…

Administers and guarantees weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly disbursement of payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes for 1500+ team members consistent with Federal and State wage and hour laws.

  • Ensures the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate and timely.

  • Ensures payroll system is setup and updated to reflect the current team member base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with compensation plan.

  • Researches, interprets, and maintains legal knowledge for Federal or State laws and regulations that impact payroll.

  • Reviews and analyzes current payroll and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.

  • Responds to team member and coach’s payroll-related inquires via email and phone.

Prepares relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports; gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefits deductions, etc.

Ensures Federal and State compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements including payment of payroll taxes, processing and mailing of year end W-2s.

  • Audits W-4s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.

Works collaboratively with HR Managers, IT and Finance (Controller) to review cross-department impacts, reconciles data sharing, and aligns payroll system and practices. (10%)

Here’s what you must have to be considered for this role…

  • Two to Three Years of Payroll Experience; Proficiency and Experience with HRIS and Payroll Applications

  • Technical Aptitude

  • Advanced Problem Solving Skills

  • MS Office (Excel, Outlook and Word)

Here’s what we hope you have…

  • Previous Workday Payroll/HRIS Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or Other Related Field

  • Advanced Communication Skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to maintain a sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time and operate computer equipment.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, and twist is required for filing and general office duties.

  • Exerts up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or negligible amount frequently to move office-related items or materials.

  • Ability to use a personal computer for tasks such as communicating via email and preparing reports and other forms of documentation using company and industry software.

  • Ability to speak, hear, and see is required to communicate with employees, and to operate computers and office machinery.

  • Hand-eye coordination and fine manipulation skills are necessary to operate computers and various office equipment.

  • Continual hand/wrist motion is required to operate computers and office machinery.

  • Ability to perform job functions in compliance with company policies and procedures, including safety policies and best practices.

  • Must maintain regular and punctual attendance.
