The SR Financial Accounting Manager will administer all financial accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and audits.  This person will manage the financial accounting team to ensure transactions are accurately reported and partner with the Accounting Operations Manager to align GL activity and accurate recording of operational transactions with the operations team (AP, AR, and Inventory).  The SR Financial Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Controller in the analysis and reconciliation of accounts and the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.  This role is part of the Finance, Accounting and Compliance team.

Here’s more of what you will do… (OK, not all in one day!)

Ensures all financial accounting activities are in compliance with Company policies and administered appropriately within Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Manages the monthly financial close process, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded; reviews account reconciliations, journal entries, and report preparation. 

  • Works with the Controller to lead the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures including the review and implementation of process and system changes.

  • Prepares financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Ensures Company policies and procedures are in place and operating effectively; audits routinely to ensure compliance.

  • Provides daily cash flow projections related to reconciliation, accounts receivable (A/R), and accounts payable (A/P); partners with our Treasury bankers.

  • Works with the Accounting Operations Manager to ensure an accurate and efficient monthly closing of A/P and A/R; ensures the accuracy of A/P and A/R transactions of sales tax compliance and general ledger coding accuracy.

  • Manages the hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and partners with the Controller to determine appropriate classification and booking of all transactions.

  • Makes recommendations for changes as needed and ensures that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud and misstatements.

  • Actively reviews and advises on financial and accounting processes.

Lead budgeting and financial reporting ensuring accurate and timely reporting of data across the company.

  • Works with the Controller and the Finance team to develop the annual budget for the Company.

  • Prepares budget reports and perform budget analysis including budget vs. actual variances.

  • Provides financial analysis and support to all Leaders as requested.

  • Responds to Team Member questions related to accounting, budgets, and financial processes.

  • Analyzes the effect of statutory accounting rules and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Enhances accounting and finance processes while upholding conformity with organizational accounting policies, as well as relevant legal and regulatory standards.

  • Ensures continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.

  • Participates in strategic financial projects including implementations of ERP software.

  • Leads the annual financial audits by collaborating with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.

  • Assists with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns by 3rd party tax firm.

Manages and develops the Financial Accounting team.

  • Mentors, coaches, supports, and provides guidance to team members in their roles, career path and professional development.

  • Provides opportunities and guidance that enable the transfer of learning into effective practice for team members.

  • Develops and provides learning opportunities related to the assessed needs of team members, ensuring equal opportunity for all team members.

Here’s what you must have to be considered for this role…

  • Certified Public Account (CPA)

  • Five to Six Years Progressive Accounting Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Other Related Field

  • Strong Communication and Relationship Building Skills

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Advanced Analysis Skills

  • Advanced MS Office (Excel) experience; VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.
