ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a great opportunity to be part of Ankura’s fast-growing Accounting & Finance team. We are seeking an Associate that will perform accounting for various transactions, such as equity, leases, intercompany, etc., and actively participate in the financial close process. This role will hold key relationships within Finance and with client-facing business groups within the firm, as well as interface with our external tax and audit teams.

The Associate must be familiar with US GAAP and have some experience with researching technical accounting areas of accounting. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys a full and sometimes deadline-driven day, has excellent analytical skills and understands that attention to detail is often the key to success. He or she will have three or more years of relevant experience and have demonstrated exceptional competencies through previous employment performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own various areas of accounting and ensure accuracy and quality reporting over those areas

  • Generate and/or review journal entries and accruals for month-end close

  • Prepare reconciliations and participate in monthly balance sheet reviews

  • Develop/maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

  • Generate various reports and queries to support financial reporting and analytics

  • Research proper accounting treatment for various transactions

  • Prepare/review audit schedules and respond to auditor questions

  • Troubleshoot any recurring process issues, determine the root cause and suggest solutions

  • Assist with special projects as necessary

KEY CHARACTERISTICS:

  • 2-3 years of progressive job experience in accounting
  • Big Four experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analysis skills
  • Experience in working with large data and spreadsheets in Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with peers and all levels of management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments
  • Strong problem-solving skills – ability to determine solutions and alternative solutions based on the situation
  • Positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel required
  • Experience with Workday a plus
