Ankura is looking for a Revenue Accountant. This role will play a critical role in day-to-day accounting activities, the month-end close and financial reporting processes, and participation in the various audit and tax-related matters.  This is a remote-based role, with a preference for the Greater Washington D.C. area.  Depending on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications this could be filled at the Senior Associate level or Manager level.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Perform accounting transactions across a wide range of business processes
  • Participate in day-to-day accounting tasks and play an active role in the month-end close process
  • Perform various contract reviews to determine appropriate revenue recognition methodology
  • Perform routine checks on revenue recognition to ensure accurate reporting of revenue
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for revenue-related ledger accounts
  • Perform variance analysis to present to business group and finance leadership and explain the reasons behind material changes in revenue streams
  • Determine appropriate revenue recognition for contracts obtained through mergers and acquisitions
  • Interpret ASC 606 Revenue Recognition guidance and its application on existing contracts and future billing models
  • Partner with Management to work on revenue process improvements
  • Participate in cross-functional and ad-hoc projects with various teams including FP&A, contracts and billing.

Requirements:
 

  • BA/BS in Accounting required
  • Workday experience desired
  • Active CPA license preferred
  • 5-7+ years of experience including time spent public accounting and a corporate accounting role
  • Expertise with Revenue Accounting and ASC 606
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills and general accounting experience and knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to self-start after initial training and knowledge of when to ask for assistance
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis in Excel (using pivot tables, x-lookup, sum-ifs and other formulas in working with large amounts of transactional data)
