HR Manager (On-site Hastings, MN)
Your role:
As the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for onsite, plant HR duties including, but not limited to, local talent recruitment strategies, ownership of the onboarding and orientation process, attendance tracking and administration, employment relations, collective bargaining agreement administration, talent management, workforce planning, Workday management, and administration of the site performance management processes.
You will report to the HR Business Partner and partner with plant leadership and corporate HR function to ensure we have a consistent team member experience aligned to Our Values, build site engagement, and bring the company culture to life each day. Your Responsibilities:Â
- Assist and backup payroll processing on a weekly basis. This includes reviewing team member timecards, educating team members on their pay, correcting time entries where needed and partnering with Plant Leadership to ensure timecard accuracy.
- Communicate, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, employment compliance training, and certifications.
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings; act as a brand ambassador in the local community.
- Build a close working relationship with the corporate HR function (HR Business Partners, HRIS, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, etc.) and utilize this team as an escalation point and resource for problem solving, growth, and development.
- Manage the team member life cycle through the coordination and administration of onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews.
- Partner with plant leadership and the HR function to locally execute human resource programs including benefits, and leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, and recognition/engagement programs.
- Manage complex and sensitive employment related matters with empathy and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws
- Partner with site leadership to support team through coaching and counseling.
- Partner with operations leadership and the legal team on CBA administration and the grievance process.
- Build rapport with employees, provide excellent customer service, and effectively build and manage relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Partner and collaborate with HR contacts at other company facilities in the region.
Essential Skills and Experience:Â
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of HR experience
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Proven experience working in a fast paced, transactional environment where you had accountability for decisions that had direct impact on a team member’s experience
- Proven communication, teamwork, and leadership skills with the ability to deliver results by inspiring, serving others, and working to earn trust every day
- Strong leadership skills to coach and guide the management team and to support and to motivate staff
- A solid understanding of employment and labor law
- Ability to stay current on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources to provide practice and process improvements locally
- Technology competency including being proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with HCMS System
- Consistently demonstrate sound judgement when addressing issues
Good to have: Â
- Workday experience
- Labor Relations experience is highly desired.
- Human Resources experience with companies supporting 80-100 or more associates
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong prioritization skills.
- PHR/SHRM certification
- Recruiting experience
