Accountant
ASU Enterprise Partners is an efficient network of highly skilled teams; it is comprised of a full complement of professional services that work in concert with specialized business units to provide full resources and extend Arizona State University’s ability to achieve its charter.  Â
The Accountant is responsible for performing a full scope of accounting functions for ASU Enterprise Partners entities, maintaining a complete and accurate set of financial records updated on a timely basis. This position performs professional accounting duties in a variety of areas requiring professional, competent knowledge of accounting principles and applicable laws and regulations. This position also provides support for annual financial audits, the annual tax filing process and is responsible for creating desk procedures for their area of responsibility.
What you’ll do:Â

Performs full-scope accounting functions for assigned ASUEP entities

Acts as accounting point of contact for ASUEP entity teams

Assists with accounting transaction processing as needed for assigned entities

Prepares and/or posts journal entries to record transactions for assigned entities
-
Completes month-end close tasks on or before required timeframes for assigned entities

Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations and remedies reconciling items as appropriate

Reviews and analyzes monthly Trial Balance for accuracy and reasonableness for assigned entities

Reviews monthly financial statements for assigned entities and follows up on variances as appropriate

Prepares quarterly and annual workpapers and related footnotes to financial statements for assigned entities

Supports annual financial audits for assigned entities/functions

Supports annual tax filing for assigned entities

Responds in a timely manner to customer service inquiries in ASUEP ticketing system

Cross-trains and serves as a back-up resource for other team members as needed

Creates and maintains desk procedures for areas of responsibility

Contributes to team special projects as assigned

Contributes to process improvement initiatives as identified through own work or by other team members

What you'll need:Â Â

Understanding of non-profit accounting policies and fund accounting, including an understanding of endowment management

Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, accounting principles, practices, and procedures
-
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and highly proficient with Excel
-
Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties

Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information

Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone

Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment

Relevant qualifications:Â
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related area with accounting coursework
-
One (1) year of professional accounting experience
-
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
