Position Summary
Avantax is seeking an Accounting Specialist II that will be responsible for a variety of accounting activities, primarily related to full-cycle Accounts Payable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Independently research and resolve issues including reviewing historical activity, interacting with suppliers, and interacting with business counterparts.

Provide customer service support to business counterparts by resolving issues and questions regarding the timing and status of invoices and payments.

Communicate to business counterparts the accounting policies and procedures related to accounts payable to ensure adherence with internal controls.

Process a high volume of invoices daily, including data entry, coding, and settlement.

Record and enter accrual for invoices in accordance with established procedures and standard business practices.

Operate and process invoices either with or without purchase order support.

Provide assistance related to reconciling balance sheet accounts and researching activity in income statement accounts.

Perform special projects and other job duties as requested.

Cross-train on Treasury function, which includes preparing bank deposits, reconciling commission cycles, the transmission of transfers/wires, and bank account maintenance/support.

Education & Experience
-
2+ years of full-cycle Corporate Accounts Payable experience required.

Basic to intermediate experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is required.

Prior experience with Workday ERP preferred.

Strong understanding of general accounting concepts related to the processing of invoices such as prepaid, accruals, and fixed assets.

Outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.

In-office attendance is required; 100% remote assignment is not available for this role.

Base Salary Range:
$18 – $27 per hour; Variable incentive compensation eligible.
