The part-time Bookkeeper for the Student Government Association provides high-level administrative support to the Student Government Association under the advisement of the Office of Student Engagement. The Bookkeeper will act as the financial point of contact in Student Engagement for the Student Government, supporting the financial transactions and contract payments for student clubs, organizations, and activities.

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Monitor and help maintain Student Government Association budgets which includes submitting expense reports and invoices through proper channels; maintaining and reconciling budgets for Student Government funded accounts; processing financial payments; and procuring materials for workshops and activities.
  • Support the banking activities, including downloading reports and processing electronic payments, both foreign and domestic.
  • Audit student organization spending to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with end-of-year close and audit preparation.
  • Ensure all student organizations comply with Babson College policies and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support in managing office data and reporting.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

Education Requirements:

Minimum Level of Education Required:  Associate’s Degree

Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of related experience in an office or other similar environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, anticipate needs, act with sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks with frequent interruptions while meeting strict deadlines
  • Must have excellent grammar, composition, and proofreading skills as well as exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to effectively interface with all constituents 
  • Must have a basic knowledge of current trends in student diversity and inclusion, particularly in regard to higher education
  • Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support Entrepreneurial Thought & Action (ET&A); take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
  • Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and project management skills with the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks and adjust to changing priorities
  • Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar)

Working Conditions:

  • Babson College requires all Babson faculty and staff members authorized to work on our campuses or any other property owned or controlled by the College to verify that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.   • This is a temporary, 10-month position, approximately 20 hours per week.

Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience with Workday Finance a plus
