Title:  Senior Associate, U.S. Accounting and Reporting

Business Unit: Client, Finance and Operations

Location: Charlotte, NC

Job Summary

Corporate Accounting is seeking a Senior Associate. This position will support the month-end close process, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting related matters. The position will reside in our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly general ledger journal entries, including general accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, ASC 842 lease accounting, and incentive compensation
  • Prepare timely and accurate balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and flux analyses
  • Assist in the preparation of various monthly and quarterly presentations
  • Convert/upload monthly consolidated trial balance to parent company’s general ledger
  • Utilize disclosure management tool to prepare financials and presentations
  • Assist in the preparation of external audited financials for consolidated Barings and other Barings subsidiaries (as assigned), which includes preparation of face financial statements and accompanying footnotes
  • Maintain auditable documentation of prepared financial statements for audit
  • Interact with external auditors during interim and year end
  • Partner with FP&A for forecasting and business unit reporting needs
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, Masters in Accounting is preferred
  • CPA with public accounting experience is preferred
  • 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel
  • Experience with Workday a plus
  • Experience with Workiva a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills used for the collection and communication of information
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently and communicate effectively across company locations and organizational lines
  • Be open to change, and when required, embrace change
  • Demonstrated success in implementing accounting and financial review process improvements
