Summary

The Human Resources Partner for Student Employment serves as an HR generalist and performs a variety of duties in support of human resources functions including but not limited to recruitment, interviewing and placement. This position supports the creation and delivery of student programming and is responsible for managing the student employment social media accounts.

The HR Partner, Student Employment also assists in various projects such as auditing, maintaining documents, and benchmarking.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HR front desk and provides high-quality service to students, faculty, and staff. This position assists with Adjunct, Staff, & regular part-time student recruitment cycle and provides support to hiring managers as needed.

Essential Functions

Serves as the HR partner for student employment by completing various functions to include:

  • Provides high quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff to ensure expectations are met and/or exceeded.

  • Manages the HR ticketing system to identify any student employment tickets and assigns them to the appropriate member.

  • Creates job requisitions for student employment, including FWS based on ticket requests. All tickets must be responded within 72-hours

  • Collaborates with hiring managers/recruiting coordinators to ensure student employees interviews and placements are completed on a timely manner.

  • Reviews applications and resumes, determining eligibility based on qualifications, and dispositions qualified candidates to the hiring manager via Workday HR Recruiting.

  • Maintain accurate student employment records and files.

  • Verifies the authenticity of candidate/employee IDs for Form I-9 and conduct re-verifications as necessary.

Assist in a variety of projects for the student employment program

  • Assist in creating and delivering programs to engage student employees.

  • Manages and monitors social media accounts, ensuring all post follow Barry U policies.

  • Ensures websites display accurate and the most up-to-date information on FWS procedures.

  • Attends occasionally student employee’s events after hours or weekends.

Proactively follows-through on pending Business Process

  • Initiates various functions in Workday HCM/Recruiting such as creating job requisitions, referring applicants, or inviting candidates to apply for vacant FWS positions.

  • Approves/reviews various business processes in Workday to include hiring (upon departmental approval), assign organization, and processing job changes such as transfers and terminations. accurately enters the information in the HRIS database.

  • Ensures pending backgrounds checks and onboarding activities are completed on a timely manner by contacting the students directly.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study.

  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, Administration, or Financial Aid.

  • Additional work experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience working with college students or as Federal Work-Study.

  • High level of analytical skills to problem solve a variety of Human Resources related challenges, providing sound judgement in decision making.

  • Proven ability to take initiative and prioritize actions while managing numerous tasks.

  • Proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to learn Workday Human Capital Management, Workday Recruiting, and TeamDynamix.

  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with positive attitude, sound judgement, courtesy, tact and diplomacy to ensure the highest level of customer service to all University constituents and is the model for inclusive community and collaborative service. ​
