Job Description:
We are seeking a data-driven self-starter who is passionate about analyzing and interpreting compensation trends to support our firm’s continued evolution of our compensation programs. In pursuit of our Compensation Philosophy to “Treat professionals superbly and pay them fairly,” the Business Analyst, Compensation, will play an integral role in analyzing, designing, benchmarking and administering compensation programs, including base salaries and incentive pay. The ideal candidate will have exposure to robust compensation programs and best practices, as well as strong critical thinking and data analysis skills to evaluate current state and make recommendations for improvement. This individual will leverage strong relationship-building skills and data visualization abilities to provide internal clients at all leadership levels with quality support in implementing tools to drive quality compensation decisions. The Business Analyst, Compensation, will have the ability to influence positive change in support of the firm’s business strategy and People-Centric culture through close partnership with People Team leadership and business leaders across the firm. The role is located at the Design Group headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Compensation Director on a variety of projects, including program design, analysis, modeling and implementation of new programs, as well as improvement/streamlining of existing programs
- Research and report on market data information to assist in determining external equity and share current compensation trends
- Provide internal and external benchmarking data to ensure appropriate compensation levels for candidate offers and existing team members
- Track and administer compensation increases to ensure accurate system updates and payroll data
- Develop and document procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including developing compensation ranges for job postings in states where required
- Set standards for developing compensation reports and distribution methods
- Lead Variable Incentive plan program by maintaining calculation files, providing calculations on a quarterly basis, and providing forecasts for full year payouts
- Provide incentive & compensation trend analysis to ensure leaders have all relevant information to make the appropriate decisions
- Maintain accurate job descriptions to ensure accuracy of the firm’s job catalog
- Work with Finance to ensure accurate calculations of expenditures in compensation for budget planning and tracking
- Partner with Payroll and IT teams to ensure that systems meet compensation needs and are updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc.
Education/Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting is required. MBA is a plus.
- Experience in people data and/or financial analytics
- Exposure to robust compensation systems/processes required; direct experience in Compensation-related work is a plus

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Workday software preferred
