Bed Bath & Beyond is seeking a talented HR Generalist to partner with HR leaders in support of various functional areas including but not limited to Technology, Analytics, Security and Loss Prevention, Legal and Human Resources at its Corporate Office in Union, NJ.  The HR Generalist will be responsible for providing HR support and service in several areas including paid leave of absence administration, talent acquisition and development, associate guidance on HR policy and program administration, regulatory compliance, and HR reporting & analysis.

Specific Job Duties Include:

  • Intake and address associate questions and concerns in a supportive and responsive manner; partner with HR team to resolve issues as applicable.

  • Engage directly with associates for important life moments in guiding and managing leave of absence administration.   Manage process coordination with associates, 3rd party leave administrator, and internal benefits and payroll teams.

  • Provide support to the Corporate HR team and the business with HR reporting and analytics.

  • Partner with HR leaders and HR Center of Excellence partners on talent acquisition and talent development initiatives and activities.

  • Work with HR leaders to guide and counsel people leaders on associate relations

  • Support HR leaders in coaching people leaders and associates on performance management issues and opportunities

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of organization design, help define resourcing related to role framework and compensation practices

  • Process associate transactions, knowledge of Workday a plus

  • Tracks and administers “exception reporting” for bi-weekly payroll

  • Complete and process status changes, including separations; conduct exit interviews.

  • Organize, support, and execute various HR programs and events. 

  • Assist in HR policy administration and fulfillment of HR regulatory compliance requirements, including internal audits.   Perform duties, as required, in support of COVID contact tracing and tracking, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA and I9 reporting.


  • BS/BA in Human Resources or related field.

  • 2+ years related HR experience in a fast paced, professional environment.  

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of local, state, and federal employment regulations, most specifically related to leave programs.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; easy to do business with

  • Organized, results driven, self-starter with high attention to detail and sense of urgency

  • PHR certification is desirable
