The Compensation & Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing compensation and Workday support for the Human Resources department as well as administration of benefits processing for payroll, fielding employee questions, providing reporting requests made by management, third parties, and governmental agencies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Complete all salary surveys while assisting Director in maintaining salary grading structure
  • Market price jobs as needed
  • Responsible for monthly/quarterly site bonus, annual corporate bonus and merit increase processes
  • Review and administer eligibility for 401k match, updating Workday accordingly
  • Assist with 401k and health plan audits annually as well as 5500 filings
  • Support the design, development, audit and administration of the Company’s benefits portfolio
  • Responsible for reviewing benefit deductions in payroll for accuracy, making required adjustments
  • Coordinate processes for benefits administration, specifically for 401(k) deferral rates and plan loans
  • Assist with Workday configuration and administration of annual open enrollment and compensation module
  • Create and audit monthly premium benefit invoices; resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company
  • Provide monthly reporting to broker and insurance carriers
  • Provide Workday reporting support for ad hoc reporting requests
  • Support Workday testing for updates and create job aids for Workday processes
  • Back up for Workers Compensation and Leave administration
  • Help service employee questions related to benefits
  • Responsible for Benefit orientations for new hire acquisition properties, when needed
  • Coordinate special projects as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills required, inclusive of experience in communicating Benefit programs
  • Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500 filings and other related state and federal regulations and reporting requirements involving benefits
  • Must possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Workday, or other related web-based tools preferred
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Must be able to clearly communicate both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to understand directives both orally and in writing
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible
  • Must be resourceful and well organized
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy for all payroll and compensation related items
  • Must have excellent analytical skills
  • Must be flexible, able to manage multiple priorities and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment

Education and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline or equivalent experience required; SPHR, PHR, CEBS certification, CCP, or CBP designation preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated and applicable HR and compensation/benefits experience; experience in a multi-state, multi-facility program preferred
