Job Description Summary

Come and join a dynamic, diverse, forward-thinking Data Analytics Operations team. We are looking for a Data Analyst II to manage the lifecycle of reports and dashboards across various data platforms like Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, Oracle databases, Workday, Tableau, Power BI, etc.

This role report to the Director of Data and Analytics Operations and will conduct needs analysis with business analysts and stakeholders to develop models and algorithms, design and deploy cloud curated data sets, transform data, create reports and dashboards and apply best practices to maximize organizational and business performance.

This role will be responsible for building strong partnerships with all stakeholders across the University to understand the strategic roadmaps for data modernization best practices. This role requires strong attention to detail, communication, and technical skills.

Essential Duties

  • Collaborating with the Data Engineers and Data Architects, contribute to designing and deploying curated data sets residing in the Azure environment, create relationships between data, and develop tabular and other multidimensional data models.

  • Develop ad hoc reports, dashboards & visualizations from multiple data sources to support business operations using Tableau, PowerBI, Workday, etc.

  • Troubleshoot and analyze reporting and data warehouse issues’ root causes.

  • Work with users and team members for performance improvement and suggestions.

  • Create data documentation explaining algorithms, parameters, models, and relations.

  • Assist in the advancement of data governance principles and initiatives with various stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with the data governance team and business users to establish data definitions.

  • Support process to train and develop stakeholders in the meaning and usage of data, reports, and dashboards.

  • Attend training as required.

  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 2 years of experience with BI tools and systems such as Power BI and DAX, Tableau.

  • Experience in writing complex, highly optimized SQL code for data manipulation and reporting.

  • Experience creating data sets and data models using various data platforms (data warehouse, SQL server, Oracle server etc)

  • Working knowledge of Azure platform and Azure Synapse Analytics preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Workday Report as a Service environment preferred.

  • Cross-functional experience working with product, business, design, and engineering teams.

  • Highly analytical and structured thinking.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems on time.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.

  • Good time management, organizational and decision-making skills.

  • Experience in higher education preferred.

Work Environment

  • Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work

  • Ability to travel around campus for meetings and other work related events
