JOB OBJECTIVE:
Ensure non-exempt(hourly) employees' regular and overtime hours are entered and processed by working with employees and managers to ensure timecards are completed and submitted in a timely manner, making corrections as necessary. Calculate deposits for payment of biweekly and special payroll runs, summarizes payroll data for journal entries. Identifies payroll related issues, works with management for direction, and responds to employee questions pertaining to their pay. Review employee benefit tasks pending in Workday to ensure timely completion and coordinates premium arrears schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
TIMEKEEPING: Ensures non-exempt (hourly) employees regular and overtime hours are entered and processed in a timely manner. Works with managers and employees to complete timecards, making corrections as necessary. Verifies proper application of all employee leave time.
PAYROLL PROCESSING: Calculate deposits for payment of biweekly and special payroll runs. Summarizes payroll data for journal entries. Prepares wire transfer requests or manual checks as needed due to ACH returns or other special situations. Enters employee garnishments and continuing liens as required.
PAYROLL CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Identifies payroll related issues, works with management for directions, and responds to employee questions pertaining to their pay, and provides resolution in a timely manner. Prepares manual checks as needed due to ACH returns or missed payments, determines appropriate tax withholding as needed.
EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT & SAVINGS PLAN (ERSP) ASSISTANCE: Receives and verifies employee contribution percentage changes and loan information from the 401k administrator on a weekly basis. Enters manual ERSP changes as needed. Prepares check requests to deposit funds for biweekly ERSP deductions and ensures compliance with ERISA deposit requirements.
BENEFITS FUNDING: Prepares bi-weekly and monthly check requests associated with employer and employee contributions to the self-funded health and dental benefit plans.
TAX SETUP: Balances quarterly tax reports to payroll records to ensure accuracy of federal and state tax. Verifies that tax deposits comply with required deadlines to avoid penalties. Ensures that unemployment taxes withheld comply with limitations. Researches discrepancies as needed. Reviews all location transfers and address changes for employees to ensure proper local taxes are set up.
FINAL PAY: Processes all termination pay to ensure accuracy and maintain compliance with state final wage payment laws, including review of final hours worked and PTO/vacation payouts. Sends termination notices as required by law.
BENEFITS PROCESSING: Review and monitor incomplete tasks in Workday related to benefit processes. Corrects pending tasks in Workday as needed. Review benefit premium arrears report to ensure repayment schedules are established and followed.
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS SUPPORT: Communicate orally and in writing with external human resources team and employees as needed to gather information and may answer basic questions related to company benefits and processes.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
* Performs related duties as situation dictates such as participating in special projects, etc. Handles incoming mail. Provides backup to payroll and benefits team as needed.
* Works under immediate supervision, referring questionable cases to others. Uses judgment to handle basic issues and problems. Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter. Opportunity for errors may be serious and may involve loss of productivity. Primarily works within the department with occasional outside contact. Regularly works with confidential data. One or more years related work experience is typically required.
Required Knowledge:
*Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience
