About this role

The Immigration Risk Manager is responsible for delivering best-in-class immigration services for the region while ensuring compliance and mitigating overall risk.  Reporting to the Head of Global Immigration, the candidate will provide support to all levels of the organization on all immigration matters within the EMEA  region, and serve as the primary escalation point between the business, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners and our external immigration counselThis role will leverage immigration subject matter expertise and operational management experience to deliver a superior employee experience and help to inform talent strategy. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of visa processing staff (internal Analyst, based in our Budapest operations hub, in addition to vendor contractors located across region) to ensure effective administration of the firm’s immigration policy and procedures, and in accordance with immigration law 

  • Oversight of all immigration matters within the EMEA region, including governance of case assessment processes for new hires /internal mobility (~200/annually)  and oversight of renewals and extensions of employer-sponsored visas  across the EMEA region(~800+ visa population EMEA) 

  • Advise business on complex immigration matters/provide high-touch support, and partner with HRBP and business to develop talent strategy 

  • Responsible for oversight and management of vendors in region, including onboarding of sub-contracted vendors, and ensuring compliance with service levels across multiple countries

  • Manage regional operations to ensure seamless initiation, execution and responsiveness of all immigration matters for the region, including visa extension/permanent residency requests and inquiry management

  • Review, recommend and lead execution on process improvements to immigration program.. Collaborate with internal HR teams including Talent Mobility, Talent Acquisition and Platform & Infrastructure on process improvement initiatives 

  • Lead communication strategy for the region, which includes the delivery of population-wide messaging, development of training and awarenessl materials, and hosting training and seminars. Review and communicate any updates on legal changes and industry trends to key stakeholders and senior leaders 

  • Manage all immigration aspects relating to various complex projects within the region (Joint Ventures, Acquisitions, Country Expansions)

  • Monitor local/operational compliance with right to work verification requirements; maintain governance framework of right to work verification requirements across the region

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent. 

  • 5+ years of experience, preferably working in an in-house global immigration or mobility program for a multinational company.  

  • Working knowledge of varied global visa types, processes and the experience reviewing case facts to interpret technical advice and reach commercial decisions. Familiarity and knowledge of U.K. immigration and EU Posted Worker Directive is highly desirable

  • Strong communication and influencing skills (verbal and written) 

  • Experience managing and leading others preferred 

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects – driving projects from conception to implementation, including change management and stakeholder engagement. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Teams, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Workday is a plus 

  • Critical thinking skills- ability to identify risks that may pose legal/regulatory, financial or operational risks to the firm.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and experience working with/handling highly sensitive/confidential employee data in compliance with privacy principles.
