Position Summary

Blucora, the parent company to Avantax Wealth Management, Avantax Planning Partners, and TaxAct, is seeking a Procurement Specialist II who will support the Procurement organization’s day-to-day activities, including all aspects of the complete procure-to-pay process. Additionally, the Procurement Specialist will support process improvement opportunities, close attention to the agreement review, approval, and execution process, within the Workday environment. Further, this position will coordinate with cross-functional groups to ensure all agreements are reviewed and approved before contract execution. Finally, the Procurement Specialist will support all purchase order entries, good receipts, acknowledgments, and partner closely with Accounts Payable to pay invoices on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Document the current process and propose opportunities for improvement.

  • Communicate policies and procedures and help build the case for change, as needed, to all employees.

  • Support the implementation of the Workday Strategic Sourcing (WSS) module, and the longer-term evolution of this system.

  • Lead the contract data conversion from the prior software repository to the new repository (WSS).

  • Support the reconfiguration of the Workday purchasing module, including process review, redesign, system configurations, and change management.

  • Lead the monthly, weekly, and ad-hoc reporting requests from Leadership.

  • Establishes and monitors vendor performance and scorecards.

  • Works closely with accounts payable department to ensure proper receipt and payment of vendors.

  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience with Workday required.

  • Prior experience with Scout will be an advantage.

  • College degree preferred but not required.

  • 8-10 years of total experience, including exposure to finance, accounting, legal, and technology.

  • Familiarity with lean process methodologies and the ability to include those principles in process design.

  • Familiar with tactical purchasing details and best practices.

  • Knowledge of accounting and finance principles.

  • Proficiency in PC MS Office-based tools.

  • Strong ability to build relationships across multiple disciplines and indirect reporting relationships.

  • Excellent ability to details and follow-through.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and communication skills.
