At Bristow, our biggest asset is our people, and our HR team plays a critical role in developing and supporting our teams to help them successfully achieve their business goals.  The Manager HR, U.S. plays a key role in the success of Bristow by effectively managing the HR functions of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico (U.S. GoM) business and developing and implementing the strategic HR policies to serve the organizational needs.  The Manager HR, U.S. ensures that a high-quality HR function that reflects the needs of the business while recognizing the importance of employee contribution to the business achieving high performance is delivered.  This position is responsible to manage, maintain, and enhance the organization’s human resources function by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices, and maintaining functions such as talent acquisition, talent retention and engagement, training and development, performance management, compliance, employee compensation and regulatory compliance across the U.S. and Suriname (U.S. GoM) operations.

 

The position reports directly to the Director, HR Global Operations.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver HR guidance and consultation services to all U.S. GoM functions, and co-located corporate functions, through building strong relationships with employees
  • Lead a team of HR professionals compromising of HR Business Partners, Coordinator, and Recruiter, ensuring high-quality delivery and execution of deliverables
  • Operate as a strong business partner to the leadership team, demonstrating the ability to translate strategic thinking into operational practice. Ensure HR strategies are aligned and executed against business goals
  • Partner with the Area Manager and leadership team, providing strategic direction, develop, implement, and monitor the goals, objectives, priorities, and procedures relating to the business
  • Understand the business – its structure, culture, and customer base; assess human resources needs in the areas of performance management, employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, leadership development, vendor management, and HR operational compliance
  • Develop and monitor the short- and long-term talent acquisition and retention strategy
  • Partner with the business to identify and develop organizational design with associated business case, economics, and change management plans
  • Identify top talent and partner with leadership to establish regional succession plans and progressive development plans that cultivate employee skill sets and grow their potential
  • Advise on human resources and employment laws in current locations of operation for set-up of new operations and contracts as applicable
  • Lead or assist on key projects by openly contributing ideas and providing required data to project team members throughout the 5 phases of project management: project conception and initiation, project definition and planning, project launch or execution, project performance and control and project close
  • Provide managers with the necessary metrics to ensure they are aware of how their area of responsibility is performing, e.g., turnover reports, absence statistics etc. and work with HR Shared Services to ensure that workforce tracking is accurate and up to date
  • Assist with workforce and budget planning as appropriate
  • Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, counselling, training, and development. Taking corrective action as necessary and on a timely basis in accordance with company policy. Ensuring compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations
  • Participate in U.S. human resource compliance assessment and program compliance to include and not limited to the Bristow Affirmative Action Program, Drug & Alcohol, and ensuring that new and updated policies and procedures reflect current employment law legislation, regulatory requirements, and support our overall people strategies
  • Ensure that human resources services are provided in compliance with Company and client established system policies, procedures, and practices
  • Ensure internal sox compliance and reporting requirements are delivered
  • Take a proactive leadership role in progressing and developing the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities, Just Culture and Target Zero particularly as it relates to HR matters
  • Take a hands-on approach and be comfortable communicating with all levels of management at the local and corporate levels

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field required

  • PHR, SPHR, GPHR preferred

  • Labor/Industrial Relations (negotiations, contract administration, grievance/arbitration) preferred

  • Prior training in leadership (personal, organizational, and business relationships)

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience of broad-based human resources including HR managerial experience in a similar industry
  • International Human Resource management experience preferred
  • A proven background in providing broad generalist HR advice including policy implementation, and compensation/benefits
  • Experience in working with different global locations and with different cultures
  • High business acumen with significant experience in operational environments
  • Ability to consistently evaluate decisions based on the impact on the business while remaining compliant with relevant policies and labor legislation, national, federal, state, and international laws
  • Must have demonstrated ability to analyze organizational and procedural problems, and the ability to make sound recommendations to resolve issues
  • Demonstrated skills in leading, evaluating, training and motivating employees.
  • Experienced in providing support to managers particularly with employee relations, discipline and grievances, talent acquisition, succession planning and performance management
  • Experience in coaching and providing training for employees
  • HRIS experience is essential. Workday system preferred
  • Experience of working with change management projects desirable
