Job Description:

Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist serves as an advisor to BioMed departments on a wide variety of human resource functions including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, policy and procedure administration, equity reviews, job audits, and salary recommendations. Promoting a high-level service culture, the HR Specialist consults throughout the Division on all employment related functions, and serves as a key point of contact, resolving day-to-day issues and triaging issues to the Director as appropriate. The HR Specialist provides law and employment standards to managers, provides HR policy guidance and interpretation, and is a key point of contact for employment inquiries. Serves as a Workday liaison for the Division, providing expert guidance to all hiring managers for all related Workday processes, and provides supplemental and refresher trainings to BioMed staff.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 2-4 years’ human resources experience in higher education preferred; experience supporting scientific environment or academic medical environment preferred; or equivalent combination of education/experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google docs/forms

  • Experience with a HRIS database; prior experience with the Workday system is a plus

  • Knowledge of employment law as well as best practices in the area of employment, employee relations, and compensation

  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
