Payroll Analyst

Department: Payroll Accounting

Location : Laval (4204, boul. Industriel, Laval)

Hybrid mode : 3 days at the Laval office and 2 days remotely

Type of employment :  Permanent , Full-time

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager, within the Payroll team, the Analyst will support the Accounting team and produce reports for analysis.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Payroll accounting:

  • Analyze and prepare journal entries in PDI;

  • Analyze and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations in BlackLine;

  • Prepare period-end process;

  • Deposit and code various payroll-related cheques and payments received;

  • Prepare source deduction remittances to governments;

  • Monthly reallocation of common area maintenance costs.

Payroll:

  • Execute and analyze weekly payroll production audit reports;

  • Analyze and correct PIER report;

  • Analyze payroll losses;

  • Statistics / KPI;

  • Verify and issue Records of Employment;

  • Contribute to processes and analysis for year-end T4/T4A/RL-1/RL-2;

  • Support operations and maintain close communication with various internal and external stakeholders;

  • All other related tasks.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Education:

  • Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) or Professional Diploma (DEP) in administration, accounting option OR equivalent experience;

  • CPA accreditation.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a similar role, in a company with 5,000 or more employees.

Knowledge and skills :

  • Experience with Workday, BlackLine, PDI and PeopleSoft an asset;

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, PivotTable), Word, PowerPoint and Outlook);

  • Demonstrated experience as a payroll analyst and payroll accountant;

  • Excellent in-depth analytical skills to detect numerical errors, research and problem-solving skills;

  • Excellent stress and priority management skills;

  • Meticulous yet fast, detail-oriented and consistent;

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines;

  • Demonstrate versatility, autonomy and confidentiality in handling files;

  • Demonstrate teamwork skills and excellent customer service.

Language skills :

Bilingualism required (French and English), both written and spoken, as the person will be required to serve English-speaking regions.
