We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Finance Applications Engineer. The Senior Finance Applications Engineer works closely with Finance clients and the IT team to support all finance modules in Workday, including payroll. It is essential that they understand all finance and payroll-related business processes at a level of detail that enables them to identify and resolve application issues, update module workflows, and create/maintain reports. They gather functional requirements, conduct analyses of business processes, and participate in process improvement initiatives. This position is also responsible for project management of finance-related technology projects.
This is a full-time, regular, exempt position.
At this time, this position is eligible for telework or hybrid schedule. As with all routine telework positions, employees may be required to come into the office on occasion based on business needs. Telework may be subject to change at a future time. Currently, all employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the City cannot support ongoing telework from other locations.

Job Details
Essential Functions:
- Provide support for the City’s Workday ERP system (primarily focused on financial and payroll modules), Adaptive Planning software and performance management dashboards.
- Responsible for Workday business process development, report creation and maintenance, data verification, and ensuring ERP system functionality and performance.
- Oversee third-party cloud applications and manage interfaces. Diagnose and repair data and interface errors as needed.
- Work with department subject matter experts and power users to support key Workday business processes.
- Design and maintain financial reports and dashboards for finance staff. Prepare and present reports and dashboards for key users and management.
- Provide support and create reports in Workday. Work with customers to customize the reports. Maintain the business process data in Workday.
- Work with finance staff to upload metadata into Workday, Adaptive Planning, and prepare financial and budget reports.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- Five (5) years in Workday and/or Adaptive Planning technical support and/or database administration or relevant experience with other ERP systems and budget software.
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or related field or any combination of education, transferable skills or experience that qualifies you for the position.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Computer Skills
- Workday (Advanced) and/or Adaptive Planning (Advanced)
- Power BI, Tableau, or Crystal Reports (Intermediate)
- Microsoft Office productivity suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel (Intermediate)
- Microsoft Teams (Intermediate)
Required Licenses and/or Certifications
- Possession of Workday Pro certification or other Workday certifications are preferred.
- Ability to obtain Workday Pro Certification (Integrations and/or Reports) within 12 months of employment.
Knowledge
- Workday and Adaptive Planning business process workflows, integrations, and reporting.
- A good functional understanding of Workday Payroll and Financial modules.
- Knowledge of querying and interfacing with SQL-based databases and other data sources.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence products such as Power BI, Tableau, or Crystal Reports.
- Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
- Use of personal computers and basic software.
