Job Description

Join VillageMD as a Manager, Technical Accounting and be at the forefront of the company’s complex technical accounting and reporting matters. The role will provide a well-rounded experience in the healthcare industry and help set the foundation for future career opportunities in operational and controllership positions.

Could this be you?

In this role, you will provide strategic thought leadership and direction as a technical accounting resource for the Company. Work closely with corporate finance and operational teams to provide US GAAP accounting and reporting guidance on complex transactions.

How you can make a difference

  • Draft and review accounting memorandums to support the Company’s position on complex technical accounting matters and present the suggested treatment to management and external auditors
  • Perform contract review prior to execution and provide accounting research and guidance in support of the Company’s business development transactions
  • Review the Company’s revenue contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition under healthcare accounting guidelines
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and communication of accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of external financial statements and footnote disclosures in accordance with US GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting
  • Provide financial information and supporting analyses for internal and external reporting requirements
  • Assist with journal entry preparation for non-routine transactions
  • Monitor emerging accounting pronouncements, assist in the evaluation of the impacts to the Company and take ownership of implementation procedures, as required
  • Assist in training finance and accounting team members in relation to new accounting standards, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate with external auditors on audit requests and other third-party service providers, as needed
  • Ensure all work complies with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Streamline and improve existing processes and internal controls
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives on an ad hoc basis

Experience to drive change

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Big 4 accounting firm and/or public company experience required
  • 6+ years of related work experience
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP accounting and reporting requirements
  • Experience drafting white paper accounting memos and documenting accounting policies and procedures
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting standards
  • Experience working with SEC clients in public accounting and/or at an SEC-registered company
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Workday experience is a plus
