The HCM Sr. Principal Consultant/Functional Architect is the “go to” implementation leader, expected to provide expert guidance and delivery for HCM engagements. This individual serves as the billable functional leader on Workday HCM implementations. This person is a senior Workday HCM product expert who works closely with Engagement Managers, Managers, HCM functional area leads and senior customer resources. This person will provide overarching strategic guidance and leadership on HCM engagements to ensure a robust and complete solution that meets customer needs and allows for future enhancements with limited rework.

Responsibilities:

Solution Delivery

  • Provide functional leadership on multiple, concurrent Workday HCM implementations
  • Oversee HCM Architect Workshops and Customer Confirmation Sessions on Workday Implementations
  • Oversee all HCM functional areas (Core HCM, Core and Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Talent, Performance, Recruiting and Learning) on assigned implementations, ensuring efficient and accurate design and configuration of the delivered solution
  • Utilize CynergyTM methodology to deliver Workday HCM implementations
  • Continuous commitment to the ongoing optimization of the CynergyTM methodology, which includes driving team members to keep these tools current
  • Ensures cohesive structures and project communications are in place for cross-functional delivery between HCM and the following areas: Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll, Integrations, Financials, Organizational Change & Training, Data Conversion, and Reporting

Team Leadership

  • Partner with Engagement Manager (EM) and Portfolio Director (PD)
  • Act as a sounding board and provide ad-hoc advice for EM and leads
  • Serve as an advocate and escalation point for the EM and HCM functional team and ensure issues are being addressed
  • Help team to understand and adhere to methodology, and provide feedback to appropriate parties internally to support continuous enhancement of our tools and process
  • Mentor junior project resources by providing guidance allowing them to learn new skills and functional areas, lead customer sessions, and configure the solution
  • Drive team and individuals to achieve high customer satisfaction levels
  • Provide feedback to managers to facilitate practice growth and development for project team members
  • Ensure that issues and risks are being discussed openly with the appropriate people
  • Conduct internal QA process

Workday Knowledge

  • Certified in at least two sub-specialties in addition to HCM. Must be able to lead in each of these areas.
  • Attend regular Workday KSS calls for HCM product areas
  • Maintain Workday certifications through the biannual update process

Sales Support

  • Assist Solution Architects with estimating projects, as necessary
  • Participate in Sales Orals meetings for proposed assignments
  • Assist with or review estimates for Change Orders in HCM functional areas
  • Participate in discussion regarding HCM areas that may come into scope for project or customer

Skills & Requirements:

  • Possess 4+ years of Workday implementation experience
  • Required characteristics: fast learner, detail oriented, decisive, and enjoy fast paced work environments
  • Must work well within and across teams to get things accomplished
  • Possess Sales engagement experience estimating and presenting to prospects
  • Completion of at least three full Workday HCM implementations
  • Led at least 3 HCM implementations
  • Experience gathering requirements, designing, prototyping, testing and deploying solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Passion for exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively manage customer expectations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, HRIS or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Minimal travel required, but must be willing to travel if needed
