Job Description

Position Summary:

The part-time Associate Controller reports to the Senior Associate Vice President /Controller and is responsible for job duties related to financial reporting and year-end audits. This includes, but is not limited to, analyzing complex financial data, completing account reconciliations, preparing schedules for annual financial statements and audits, and providing analysis and recommendations regarding the implementation of applicable GASB pronouncements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance, or closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years of full-time financial accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of full-time accountant experience in higher education financial accounting and reporting.

  • More than one year of full-time working experience with Workday financial system.

The duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to prepare and analyze annual financial statements and related schedules required by the auditors.

  • Knowledge and understanding of and ability to research and interpret GAAP and GASB.

  • Working knowledge of fund accounting in higher education.

  • Working knowledge of month-end and year-end closing.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential job functions effectively in a virtual work environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.

  • Proficiency in use of ERP systems common to higher education institutions, such as Workday, Banner, or Oracle.

  • Effective written and verbal communication.
