This is a hybrid role with part time in the office and part time work from home job flexibility.  The HR and Employee Services Payroll Specialist II will provide gross-to-net payroll process information and guidance to employees, former employees, managers, and human resources partners. Additionally, responsible for processing payroll transactions, auditing HR transactions that impact pay, working with a team, and answering phone call and email questions from employees and HR partners. Employees will process transactions in Workday and process payroll and transactions for US and Canadian employees.

Position Responsibilities

  • Answer employee and HR payroll and transaction questions by phone and case management system
  • Coach employees and HR partners on transactions in Workday.
  • Administer and provide expertise in resolving payroll errors and discrepancies before finalization of the payroll process.
  • Process US and Canadian payroll
  • Provide guidance to co-workers and support the integrity of employee records and Workday data by running audit and processing reports and modify data
  • Work within a team that supports HR transactions and assists employees with HR and payroll services.
  • Understand downstream impacts of HR transactions and independently identify issues and propose solutions and process improvements
  • Able to prioritize competing priorities such as processing payroll transactions and data management with frequent interruptions from employee and HR phone calls.  
  • Assist with implementation of process improvements and technology updates
  • Identify, suggest, document, and implement ongoing process improvements.
  • Assess inquiries or reported issues to determine best method of resolution
  • Work collaboratively within a team to share ideas for driving improvements and consistency of execution for HR processes
  • Participate in scheduled and ad hoc training to improve policy and process knowledge
  • Collect information to understand and assess employee and HR needs
  • Document and update procedures and training guides in Microsoft Word
  • Manipulate reports in Microsoft Excel.  Advanced capabilities such as pivot tables and VLookups to assist with report manipulation desired.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field and 1 or more years’ experience in related field; payroll, office manager/administrative assistant, or accounting role. OR High school diploma and 3 years+ experience in payroll, office manager/administrative assistant, or accounting role.
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Demonstrate broad HR and Payroll knowledge, as pertains to the company, providing customers with relevant information, policy explanation and navigation support.
  • Experience in a centralized HR Shared Services environment
  • Experience with Workday or other HRIS systems
  • Experience with Kronos or other timekeeping system
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
