We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our London HR team. The HR Generalist is responsible for providing high quality support and guidance to Firm personnel at all levels to achieve business objectives and proactively resolve HR issues.
Job Description
Recruitment and Onboarding
-
In conjunction with senior members of the HR team, maintain consistent and compliant hiring and onboarding processes

Develop positive service relationships with hiring managers

Source candidates for assigned business services positions, applying best practices to target candidates efficiently and cost-effectively

Recruit, interview, hire and onboard candidates, including CV review, testing, interviewing and coordination, feedback, offer and contract preparation, employment verifications, conflicts review and background checks

Organise onboarding procedures to ensure candidates have a smooth and positive integration at Dechert, including delivering new hire orientation as part of a team rota

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Firm’s hiring guidelines, client service principles and commitment to a culture of collaboration, diversity and inclusion
Policies and Employee Relations

Maintain thorough knowledge of London and firmwide policies and procedures

Draft and review policies or processes as required to ensure high-quality HR service

In conjunction with senior members of the HR team, advise managers and employees on policies and policy application in different situations

Meet with managers and employees regarding disciplinary or performance concerns, documenting issues, offering guidance, managing and escalating as appropriate

Meet with managers and employees regarding flexible working requests, changes in hours or other terms, and leaves of absence, including parental and long-term sickness leaves

Conduct exit interviews with business services professionals
General HR Responsibilities

In conjunction with senior members of the HR team, participate in recurring processes such as benefits, performance and salary reviews and related process communications

Coordinate and review team preparation of monthly payroll data for Finance

Maintain a thorough understanding of Workday features through daily use and collaborate with team and HRIS colleagues to update data and provide accurate reports and analysis

Maintain organised records in compliance with best practices and data privacy guidelines

Participate in department and team projects, working independently and as part of a team, and present results and achievements to Firm personnel in HR briefings as required

Accept new tasks and responsibilities as directed to support client service and collaboration
Education and Experience
-
University degree or equivalent experience

Four or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, including law firm experience

HR certification or studies (CIPD/PHR) would be an advantage

HRIS experience required; Workday preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High level of proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required

Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate with an engaging, diplomatic and professional demeanor in-person, by phone and in writing

Demonstrated ability to work on sensitive, confidential matters with discretion and professionalism

Effective, clear and concise oral and written skills in English

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and meet deadlines

Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and internal clients in person, by phone and by e-mail in an international environment
