This position will drive strategies to attract and retain the best talent for all restaurant management positions and hourly in-unit positions. This person will be responsible for leading best practices in candidate sourcing, the implementation of talent selection, strategies, selection methodologies and talent pipeline development.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Lead efforts to improve talent selection company-wide, including establishing consistent processes and practices, developing and measuring consistent performance/cost metrics, leveraging the technology infrastructure to its fullest and implementing improvements as needed.

  • Partner with business and functional leadership and talent selection team to determine business staffing needs, produce forecasts and develop and implement an organizational recruiting strategy to hire qualified restaurant  management, hourly, and professional candidates to meet recruiting planning goals

  • Partner with Senior Human Resources Manager to support initiatives and strategy

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all activities of the field Talent Acquisition department. Participate in developing individual and department goals, objectives, and systems.

  • Build a data driven recruiting organization, providing key employment metrics to offer relevant insights (ie; cost per hire, hiring cycle time, quality of hire, turnover, competitive hiring measures and new hire engagement measures) to improve effectiveness of recruiting processes to support initiatives and strategy

  • Develop, prepare and present recruiting reports and presentations or key performance indicators for recruiting.

  • Provide understanding of internal/external talent landscape, building on competitive intelligence and trends to better prepare for and respond to recruiting demands.

  • Partner on training of behavioral interviewing and other recruitment strategies

  • Bring creative and innovative ideas and knowledge of industry trends to insure best in class recruiting programs, identifying and reporting on trends that could impact the company objectives.

  • Drive expansion of candidate pipelines via social networking, viral branding and staff member referral campaigns.

  • Develop and implement  initiatives to engage employees  to be our employment brand ambassadors.

  • Participate in the development of tools and processes that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Talent Selection process.

  • Guide management and staff members by researching, developing, writing and updating service level agreements, policies, procedures and methods for recruiting.

  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders to build a powerful employment brand to maximize recruiting efforts.

  • Act as a point of contact and work with vendors and outside agencies to complement internal strategies and recruiting operations.

  • Monitor and maintain oversight on staffing costs for both current and forecasted talent planning.  Manage and negotiate rates with recruitment agencies and vendors, including on-line recruitment, external recruiters, search firms, and ad agencies.  

  • Oversee and monitor compliance of recruitment and hiring processes, including drug testing, I9s, hourly and management background checks, etc.  Work with the Field HR team to ensure issues are addressed and reconciled timely.

  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external laws and regulations; manage compliance and updates to the Policy and Procedures database

  • Act as a company ambassador and advocate, including public speaking about Denny’s and our brand opportunities

  • Promote Denny’s as the employer of choice to all potential candidates by providing information regarding the Company culture, benefits and opportunity

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or a related discipline; a master’s degree in human resources or an MBA preferred; or equivalent work experience.

  • 5-7 years of Recruiting or Human Resources experience

  • Demonstrated success in a high growth, fast-paced, multi-unit organization, preferably in the restaurant, retail or hospitality industry.

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

  • Experience leading and developing a team

  • Review other certification requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources management and administration.

  • Ability to think creatively and identify solutions to overcome business challenges.

  • Ability to coach and counsel others, assess needs, manage performance, manage change and facilitate groups and teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence others without authority.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word Pro, Excel, Google Docs and PowerPoint).

  • Strong Google Application Skills (Gmail, Google Docs, Slides, etc. & Google Calendar).

  • Experience with Workday preferred.

  • This position requires 50 – 75% travel with frequent overnight stays.
