The Payroll Practitioner is responsible for high volume end-to-end payroll processing in the Workday environment.  Reviews changes to payroll information ensuring accuracy of the payroll system.  Responsible for balancing payroll, answering employee and manager questions and troubleshooting payroll issues.  Provides support for governmental reporting requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Performs all activities necessary to process bi-weekly payroll cycles using system of record
  • Update and maintain team member payroll records
  • Check time entries for completeness and accuracy and coordinate corrections/sign-offs with managers; review of absence entries for accuracy; ensure time and absences are reviewed throughout the process timeframe
  • Place stop payments and direct deposit reversals as needed
  • Complete employment verifications from various entities (i.e. home mortgage; workers compensation)
  • Calculate and process manual checks as needed
  • Acts as first line of contact for payroll related inquiries; provide paycheck calculation guidance to team members as needed


Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates in Business Administrator or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of payroll experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of fast-paced customer experience
  • Experience with SAP and Workday payroll systems preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of U.S. taxes, wage garnishments and Fair Labor Standards Act

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Professionalism and the capacity to maintain confidential information
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues
  • Strong time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles
  • Solid knowledge of payroll practices and principles in accordance with Federal and State payroll laws and regulations
