The Senior Benefits Administrator will administer team member benefit programs including medical, prescription drugs, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, health savings account, short- and long-term disability, leaves of absence, life insurance programs, accident, critical illness, employee assistance programs and new benefits added ongoing. This position ensures benefits that are applied comply with current benefit policies. 

The Senior Benefits Administrator should have a strong understanding of benefits. Works with the Manager of Benefits on researching, analyzing, selecting, developing and rollout of new benefit programs. This position will also handle questions from the Benefit Administrators to ensure consistency and compliance with all benefits policies.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with administration of Workday system as it relates to all benefits including FMLA, LOAs and STD leaves, newly eligible team member, monthly premiums for all benefit vendors, average hours worked, 6 months 0 hours and reporting.
  • Work to ensure company compliance with Federal and State regulations and laws.
  • Provides technical and analytical leadership and works with the various carriers to ensure accurate data and reports are provided on a timely basis for renewals including census data, analysis, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in quarterly, annual meeting with all benefit vendors.
  • Works with all benefit carriers to make sure file feeds are being received from Drury and applied accurately. Handle audits, as needed.
  • Assist in the administration, research, analysis and subject matter expert for short, long-term disability, life insurance programs, prescription drug program, HDHP with Health Saving Account and new vendors that are implemented. Responsible for inquiries regarding the new programs.
  • Identify strategies to improve employee communication and education regarding all benefits. Keep WD and employer portal updated with communication and education. Update Open Enrollment communications annually.
  • Participate in benefit surveys and analyze results to determine competitiveness.
  • Work daily with the shareholders, Accounting, Payroll, Compensation, and other departments as needed.
  • Provide advice and coaching to Benefit Administrators and be available for questions on administering all programs.

  • Confidence and ability to work independently as well as in a team structure
  • Collaborate with other departments and external vendors.
  • Solid technical knowledge and experience working with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Workday experience a plus


  • Benefit professional with at least 5 years of benefit related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills are required
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability to communicate in a business-friendly manner and tailor communications, formal or informal, to the audience


  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in the field
  • Experience working as part of a benefits department/team
