The Role Overview:

The Financial Times is looking for an accomplished Junior Technical Recruiter to support our global Tech & Product department in attracting the best and brightest talent from a variety of backgrounds.

You will be partnering with the existing Global Talent Acquisition Team and Hiring Managers to identify current and future tech hiring needs, with a primary focus on engineering positions. This role is all about sourcing technical talent and building and fostering relationships within communities for both within the Financial Times and beyond to source the best and most diverse talent. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the existing TA team with phone screens and on sourcing, engaging and recruiting new, tech talent and further building out our talent pipeline in both London and, on occasion, in Sofia

  • Leveraging employee referrals, sourcing via Meetups and events and conferences

  • Developing innovative and proactive sourcing strategies to deliver high quality candidate pipelines 

  • Effectively building and engaging talent pools/communities through a variety of tools and social media

  • Putting positive culture fit at the heart of each search

Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Holding role briefings and process debriefs with Hiring Managers 

  • Seeking continuous feedback on the suitability of candidates in your pipeline and adapting sourcing plans where necessary 

  • Getting to know each team, working with Hiring Managers to understand the skills, competencies, and experiences necessary for success in each role

  • Educating Hiring Managers on best practice in hiring 

Systems

  • Managing roles and ensure data within our recruitment system is up to date 

Metrics & Data

  • High attention to detail is required and a process driven attitude in order to provide reporting on recruitment data and pipeline updates to stakeholders 

  • Drawing insights from data and understanding which areas to tackle 

Employer Branding

  • Develop, coordinate and maintain relationships with tech communities

  • Develop a strategy to raise brand awareness amongst candidates that may not have traditionally considered the FT as a place of work

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in recruiting engineering candidates with a focus and understanding of JavaScript (nodeJS, React), Java, Python, Swift, Java, Kotlin, and AWS stack

  • Background in using innovative sourcing strategies for hard to fill, tech roles

  • Experience in working with Diversity, Equality and Inclusion strategies to ensure a diverse shortlist of candidates and a fair process for everyone

  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and relationship building skills

  • Comfortable working autonomously without direction; ability to effectively prioritise workload

  • Ability to liaise with employees at all levels of the organisation

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy required

  • Excellent organisational skills required

  • Proficiency in Workday HRIS is desirable but not essential
