Your Role

Reporting to the Senior Global Payroll Manager, this role is an amazing opportunity to be a key contributor to Gensler’s Payroll team, as well as manage a group of three persons. We are seeking an extremely reliable individual to ensure Gensler’s payroll process is executed flawlessly and will scale with the growth of our business.

The Payroll Supervisor will work closely with our Data-platform, Workday HRIS, Compensation, Human Resources, Benefit and Global Payroll Vendor/Platform teams as part of owning our North America payroll process. You will have the opportunity to drive significant change in payroll processing for our dynamic business. Our ideal candidate has the ability to work independently, plan, prioritize, think outside of the box, and have a positive attitude to embrace change.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and lead the processing of bi-weekly payroll and ad-hoc payroll processing.

  • Manage a team of three payroll members to manage daily workflow ensuring all transactions and payroll processes are accomplished timely and accurately.

  • Provide training to team on payroll state tax policies, regulations, and processes. Assist team members with resolving errors or responding to inquiries.

  • Step in as a backup for Payroll Specialist and Analyst duties.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll escalations including employee engagement and complex error resolution.

  • Ensure contractual items are entered and paid accordingly. Receive and document any necessary approvals prior to processing any non-standard payments.

  • Ensure complete and accurate record keeping for all payroll transactions.

  • Maintain updated documentation of payroll processes and informational repository.

  • Contribute to updating payroll processes, procedures, systems, and associated workflows to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Identify any payroll issues or areas of concern and collaborate with manager and other stakeholders to address them in a timely manner.

  • Manage Data Bridge (Workday and ADP Vantage integration) with HRIS team.

  • Manage Data Warehouse for US and Canada payroll data.

  • Assist with payroll audits.

  • Other projects and tasks as required by the business and leadership.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • 10+ years of relevant working experience in US and Canada payroll.

  • Experience includes US multiple state tax, US and Canada tax and payroll systems, proficiency in Excel, administration and excellent in analytical reasoning skills.

  • Experience and skills in payroll implementation, timekeeping reconciliation and cash recon analysis is a huge plus.

  • Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn new tools and techniques.

  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks with varied deadlines, a self-starter who can keep daily payroll operation moving.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

  • Working knowledge of Workday; TMF is a huge plus.

**If the position is located in Los Angeles, CA; the base salary will be estimated between $86k-$96k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent upon relevant experience. 

**If the position is located in Oakland, CA; the base salary will be estimated between $115-$125k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent upon relevant experience.
