Assistant Dean for Finance & Resource Management – School of Medicine – Georgetown University Medical Center

Job Overview

The Assistant Dean for Finance & Resource Management supports all aspects of financial and business operations in the School of Medicine, to include administering all school-wide financial processes, directing and maintaining budgets and allocations, overseeing the School of Medicine’s accounts payable and receivable functions, maintaining contractual agreements, and serving as a subject matter expert for the university’s business policies and procedures.

The Assistant Dean for Finance & Resource Management creates and maintains cost-efficient programs, with the flexibility to meet new needs, and plays a critical role in identifying and evaluating the financial impacts and feasibility of proposed changes by the deans and faculty to the resources, curriculum, technology, and staffing of the School of Medicine.

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean & Chief of Operations for the School of Medicine, the Assistant Dean for Finance & Resource Management interfaces with the Medical Center Finance Office, School of Medicine leadership, staff, students, and faculty. Further, the Assistant Dean maintains relationships with the university’s OCFO, General Counsel, Tax, and Risk Management offices.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or related field

  • At least 5 years of work experience in higher education business administration or similar

  • Strong technical skills and ability to learn new software to fulfill functionalities of role

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to manage a diverse stakeholder portfolio

  • Ability to anticipate and strategically resolve operational & budgetary conflicts

Preferred qualification

At least 3 years of experience with Workday financials
