Job Overview

Georgetown Law’s Centers & Institutes develop innovative legal and policy solutions to major challenges of our time while engaging and educating the next generation of leaders. Our Centers & Institutes Office offers administrative and operational support to individual centers and institutes

The Operations Manager serves as a key resource and liaison to Centers and Institutes regarding both Georgetown University and Law Center policies, procedures, and best practices regarding finances and human resources. They take the lead to understand, review, and seek solutions to issues as they relate to Centers & Institutes; develop, refine, and implement new and existing policies and processes; support new hire onboarding; communicate related changes to financial and HR systems; provide guidance, and create resources for Centers and Institute staff to help ensure compliance with University and Law Center policies.

They manage the Business Associate in providing the transactional accounting of Centers and Institutes to support their procurement and contract activities, including performing various day-to-day procurement, accounts payable, requisition, and procurement card activities. 

They also work closely with Centers & Institutes regarding the development, submission, and tracking of contracts; and provide regular updates to Center and Institute staff regarding the status of their transactions and help to ensure timely and efficient approvals.

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Centers & Institutes, the Operations Manager supervises the Business Associate, and works in close coordination with the Law Center Financial Affairs Office.

They regularly engage with internal constituents at both the Law Center and Main Campus, including Center and Institute staff, faculty members, human resources staff, and the grants administration office, tax office and contracts office. They also engage with external constituents, including vendors, independent contractors, and consultants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of business operations and/or business services
  • Basic knowledge of accounting procedures and transactions, as well as strong analytical skills
  • Ability to anticipate needs andcome up with creative business solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment
  • A service-orientation, discretion, and ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and to work independently
