Summary

This position will support the management of employee benefits by researching, analyzing, auditing and evaluating data from benefits plans, recommending process improvements, ensuring compliance, recommending and implementing new programs, developing communication plans and assisting with escalated plan related cases.  Benefit programs include (but not limited to) medical, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, long-term and short-term disability, FMLA, COBRA, 401(K), pension, deferred compensation, HSA, FSA, optional coverages and leave programs. This is a hybrid role out of our Windward Campus in Alpharetta, GA.

This position will initially focus primarily on team member communications, project management, M&A support and compliance activities related to the Global Payments benefits plans, in partnership with the benefits administration team.  Responsibilities may change over time as demand and priorities shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead projects related to the planning, development, implementation and administration of benefit programs and systems

  • Participate in strategy sessions focused on identifying benefit improvements, additions, changes

  • Research issues and compile data in order to evaluate current programs, systems and practices, in order to identify trends, identify root causes and develop process improvements where appropriate

  • Prepare and review communication materials, annual enrollment summaries and presentations.  Partner with Corporate Communications to ensure benefit program communications are accurate and timely, including corporate intranet content

  • Review/prepare plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, SBCs, and other documents, ensuring  accuracy with plan design while providing recommendations for updates as needed. Ensure compliance for legally required updates and participant notices.  Provide management and oversight of team assigned to these projects

  • Ensure documentation of all processes through the creation of standard operating procedures.  Ensure documentation is updated regularly based upon changes in processes, systems, vendors, etc.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive changes where appropriate

  • Maintain log of open issues ensuring items are prioritized and escalated appropriately; assist other team members with root cause analysis and issue resolution

  • Support M&A activities, leading post close integration of benefit programs and related communications

  • Supervise, train, develop staff of assigned analysts (generally 1-4 analysts assigned)

  • Serve as expert resource for HR, Shared Services, Payroll, Finance, Communications and external partners

  • Assist with special projects, an additional responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree required

  • 5-10  years benefits administration, strategy and communication experience

  • Experience working with Microsoft and/or Google suite of products

  • Strong analytical and technical skills as well as strong process definition and documentation skills/experience

  • Experience leading large projects including complex employee communication plans

  • High sense of urgency and ability to work under limited supervision

  • Knowledge of self-insured health & welfare benefits financing

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act in a professional manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience

  • Experience in a large employer environment with frequent M&A activity

  • Related exposure to Benefits Administration, COBRA, Spending Accounts, LOA processing, HRIS, and/or Payroll environments

  • Large project management and process improvement experience

  • Experience with Workday and outsourced benefits administration systems (i.e BenefitConnect)
