OPPORTUNITY
The Financial Analyst will help to maintain sustainability by expertly executing the organization’s day-to-day financial operations (financial reports, models, projections, analyses, and grant management and compliance) as well as providing leverage and analytical support to assist with a variety of strategic initiatives. This position is part of the finance and accounting team and reports to the Director of Finance. This is a role serving as part of Green Dot California’s central office team, primarily based in Los Angeles.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIE
Budgeting and forecasting
> Develop a deep understanding of the organization’s funding models, state and federal education funding sources, key expense drivers, and optimization opportunities.
> Support the school and central office annual budget process, including support in the creation of initial budgets and collaboration with operations and finance managers and other central office leadership
> Own the use and development of Green Dot’s budgeting and modeling tools, including Adaptive Insights
> Review monthly financials and provide recommendations based on trends and analysis
> Work with operation and finance managers to refine monthly forecasts and to develop tools to share monthly financial information with stakeholders

Reporting and analysis
> Work with the Director of Finance to develop and improve interactive multi-year projection models consisting of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows on an individual school as well as organization-wide level.
> Standard and ad hoc analyses and reporting of financial and operational aspects of the organization for management, operational leadership, and the Board of Directors
> Work closely with operations and finance managers to reach financial sustainability by understanding key variances, identifying long term risks, and developing strategies to improve financial outcome
> Lead and participate in annual continuous improvement projects

Grants Management
> Collaborate across central office departments to support budgets and projections for public and private funding
> Develop reporting tools to better support schools and central office departments in tracking grant funded expenditures and grant funded personnel

Other
> Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
As an ideal candidate, you:

> have a minimum of 3 years (5 years preferred) of work experience in a fast-paced, high-capacity work environment with a strong background in analytics and project management
> have a bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a related field
> are experienced with Workday (preferred)
> are highly motivated and self-driven; curious to understand, driven to problem solve and tenacity to follow through
> have an excellent ability to develop and manage financial models (VBA skills a plus) that provide actionable data and can be maintained and improved by staff
> have experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
> are able to drive strategic decisions with a mix of financial and operational data analysis
> are creative and thoughtful about how to manage financial behavior
> are able to maintain positive relations with colleagues at all levels—including central office staff and school-site administrators and staff
> are able to coach, train, and lead junior staff
> are able to simultaneously manage multiple projects, while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details; meeting and/or exceeding project goals with the highest quality
> have a high level of personal responsibility, a growth mindset, and an A+ work ethic
> are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
> will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

COMPENSATION
The starting salary range for this role is $82,000 – $88,000. To allow for salary progression over time, offers at the top of the range are rare. Individual education and experience will be considered when issuing offers. In addition, this position qualifies for a one-time $2,500 signing bonus, paid in two installments after months 6 and 12 of employment (subject to change).
