OPPORTUNITY
The Credentials Specialist with strong problem solving and system building skills, is responsible for proactively providing solutions that ensures compliance of certificated employees across our schools and home office. The Specialist works with the Human Capital, Induction, and Public Programs teams to screen, hire and retain high performing educators, and works closely with principals and teachers to provide timely and digestible information that prompts decision and action. The Specialist will also collaborate with university programs to create processes for determining teacher eligibility for hire.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
> Identify, review, maintain and evaluate the proper credentialing/NCLB/ESSA qualifications required of certificated personnel
> Advise candidates and current educators of requirements for state and federal educational credentials and permits
> Correspond with applicants and current educators regarding requirements and educational courses for California Certification/NCLB/ESSA, upcoming examination dates, and updates from the commission on Teacher Credentialing or Department of Education
> Review, process and forward recommendations to the California Commission on Teacher Credentials for issuance of credentials, certificates, and permits for certificated personnel
> Provide workshops and orientation sessions for incoming candidates, current educators, and school leaders on policies and procedural changes affecting credentials, certificates, permits, and NCLB/ESSA changes
> Manage and maintain updated records on certificated staff and ensure required credentials/NCLB/ESSA qualifications and CLAD/BCLAD certifications are held, obtained, and maintained in accordance with regulations of the CTC; prepare reports as needed
> Serve as the liaison to university credential agencies, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the California Department of Education
> Assist with new hire orientations and onboarding as necessary
> Attend credentialing/NCLB/ESSA workshops at state and county levels to maintain knowledge of credentialing/NCLB/ESSA laws and prepare updates/training materials as needed
> Assist in preparing for audits, including those for authorizers and the California Statewide Assignment Accountability System (CalSAAS)
> Demonstrate knowledge of, and supports Green Dot Public School’s mission, vision, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
> Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
As an ideal candidate, you will

> have 2-5 years of experience working in a public school district or at a university working on teacher credentialing (experience working as a K-12 teacher is preferred)
> have a bachelor’s degree (required)
> possess in-depth knowledge and experience with California credentialing requirements and laws
> be able to read, understand, and apply instructions, policies, laws, and regulations related to the credential process, NCLB/ESSA requirements, recruitment and personnel matters
> possess excellent analytical skills, ability to assimilate information quickly, identify problems if applicable, and make recommendations in a timely fashion
> have a strong desire to have a positive impact on public education
> have excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively
> have excellent attention to detail, organization, time management, and follow-up skills; a high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; and be able to work independently
> have excellent people skills; be able to build relationships, maintain constant communication, and provide support to assist certificated staff in meeting their professional certification requirements
> be able to collaborate with all levels of employees and across functional departments to achieve department goals and objectives
> be dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
> be able to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
> be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (submission of proof of vaccination will be required)
> experience with Workday is a plus!

COMPENSATION
The salary for this position begins at $71,000 based on education and experience, and currently qualifies for a one-time $5,000 incentive signing bonus.
