Job Purpose
The Benefits Lead acts as a Team Leader and Project Manager within the India and EMEA Service Centres. The role is required to manage a team of Benefits Specialists and Analysts who are managing Benefits and delivering projects within the Region.
They are also expected to apply expert knowledge and analytical ability to both develop and lead team members, and to manage, lead or contribute to projects and processes of national, regional or enterprise significance.
Key Responsibilities
- This role is accountable for allocation of work that arrives into the Service Centre, this includes:
- Day-to-day requests e.g. queries around Benefits offerings that cannot be managed by Tier 1 and / or directly through vendor portals / call-centres
- Projects e.g. Integration activity, the implementation of a new provider network, Benefits cost profiling
- Ongoing activity e.g. vendor management and benchmarking.
- This role is the overall owner for Benefits vendor management across the Region. Each Benefits Manager / Retirement Manager / Insurances Manager will have their own vendors to manage however this role holds the SPA for the Region on any contracting changes, holds the relationship with Procurement (where necessary) and ensures that all TPO arrangements / data privacy arrangements etc are in place for each of the vendor within their remit
- While the Global Benchmarking Team own the process of benchmarking, this role will use this data to help support their Team to identify where changes should be made especially with regards the consolidation of vendors (if possible). This role will also be responsible for holding the Benchmarking Team to account if the data is not complete or there are challenges with using the information within the Regions.
- This role will be responsible for partnering with the GPO to ensure that Workday Benefits provides the necessary information for the team to deliver an effective service. Issues should be escalated via this role to the GPO and Systems Lead.
- It is extremely important that this role is closely monitoring process governance within the region and the performance of the team and their delivery against the core Benefits KPIs. This role will be the Benefits “eyes and ears” within the Region.
- This role will be required to support and be involved with global Benefits initiatives working closely with members of the Reward CoE, the TR GPO as well as the Benefits Lead in the India GCC SC and SC Leads / Benefits Managers in the LATAM and Asia Regional SCs.
- Governance – While the Country Duty Holder retains oversight for Benefits Governance within a country, the Benefits Lead (and their Team) will work through the CDH for any Benefits changes as a result of re-benchmarking, vendor changes, additional costs due to changes in contracts (except Retirement or Insurances for which which the CoE has oversight). The Benefits Lead (or their Team) will discuss these proposals with the CDH and local Country FD and help support with obtaining approvals at the Country Customer Board (facilitated by the CDH).
- The incumbent in this role must be a Benefits expert, they must have the credibility to lead this team within the Region, managing escalations, ensuring Benefits process governance and be identifying opportunities for improvements / process amendments which can be raised via the TR GPO.
- This role has responsibility for leading the Benefits Team within the Region including all Performance Management activities and especially building Benefits capability and expertise through designing / delivering targeted interventions and providing advice, coaching and insightful analysis. The role must also provide developmental support to the SC Compensation Team to help build their Benefits capability (where required), it is the expectation that Compensation specialists build their knowledge of Benefits and vice versa.
- This role must be connected to external Benefits networks within the Region ensuring an awareness of broad and Regional insights and trend data. They will also be accountable for ensuring that any legislative changes on Benefits related topics especially relating to Pensions are integrated into processes and / or flagged at a global level to ensure that the necessary process adjustments are made / any risks are managed.
- It is important that this role develops develop strong connections with the Benefits Team within the Reward CoE to be seen as a partner in developing new initiatives and / or someone with which strategic changes can be tested. In addition they will need to work closely with the TR GPO to help identify pain points, deliver process or systems changes where legislation requires an alternative approach, input into process changes or new initiatives which they will then be expected to test and deploy within the Region.

Basic Qualification
- 16+ years of experience and strong working knowledge of Benefits principles, regulations and policies and ability to integrate with broader HR policies and objectives.
- Strong written and oral communications, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely. Includes experience of delivering presentations / Q&A sessions.
- Expert knowledge of technical Benefits plans, experience in operational Benefits delivery across a Region / Cluster of countries (for the India SC this should incl. US or UK / for EMEA this should incl. Belgium, France, Germany or Italy).
- Expertise in managing Benefits education and comms to managers
