SUMMARY

This role is responsible for providing HR Generalist support to both US and Canada Operations spanning across 30 locations for the ADS Business Unit. Responsibilities will include HR compliance, HRIS maintenance, payroll administration, key projects, recruitment activities, employee relations and ownership of other key processes throughout the employee life cycle. This role reports into the Human Resources Manager. This role is onsite in our Huntsville, AL office and will require some travel up to 15%.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Serves as the first level point of contact for HR inquiries regarding leave of absence, total rewards, employee relations, policy interpretation, and HR initiatives
  • Completes Workday transactions, headcount reporting, and works closely with HRIS on data maintenance, data reporting and analysis for reports
  • Handles all administrative tasks for the employee life cycle including pre-hire, onboarding, new hire orientation, and off-boarding
  • Payroll activities on a bi-weekly basis including payroll data entry, payroll reporting, verification of all payroll activities, and training of employees and leaders as needed for the timekeeping system
  • Handles annual benefits open enrollment communications and proactively addresses employee benefit understanding and issue resolution in the US and Canada
  • Supports the recruitment process in the US and Canada; open requisitions in Workday, ensure leaders develop effective job descriptions and scorecards, interview scheduling, and partnering with our Corporate Talent team and recruiting agencies on prescreening testing/background checks and drug screens
  • Administers the leave administration process – coordinating with leave management vendor, employees, and managers
  • Assists the HR Manager and HR Director in employee relations and engagement activities
  • Assists in ensuring the business is compliant with current labor laws in the US and Canada (Compliance Postings, AAP, I-9, Process Adherence)
  • Coordinates and delivers identified recognition initiatives via Awardco
  • Responsible for submitting Workers Compensation claims and completing annual MVR review process
  •  Responsible for records retention and policy administration
  • Plan and host training for employee development as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION LEVEL, and SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • BS/BA or equivalent in Human Resources or related area
  • Minimum 3 years human resources experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with a HRIS System
  • Knowledge of Canadian labor laws a plus
  • Preferred experience with Workday, and experience with timekeeping systems like Kronos or Dimensions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher Programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and procedures for recruitment, payroll, benefits, and employee relations
