Job Location:
Atlanta Support Center

Provide leadership to the payroll department. Ensure all corporate transactions are timely recorded within company policy and procedures. Ensure all payroll related deadlines are met. Work cross functionally with the Operations, HR, Benefits, and IT teams to improve efficiency and accuracy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the payroll vision and business strategies to assist in the accomplishment of overall company goals and objectives

  • Stay current on latest payroll practices, restaurant industry trends, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws

  • Ensure all processes, procedures and internal controls are adhered to

  • Identify areas of functional improvement and implement new systems or procedures to generate efficiencies

  • Set up proper guidelines and controls to ensure SOX and GAAP compliance

  • Assist the Payroll leadership team in the design and update of accountability metrics

  • Review of transactions, supporting documents, detail G/L, financial statements, balance sheet analysis, journal entries and other supporting schedules and calculations prepared by payroll

  • Responsible for the design and implementation/testing of payroll and time system upgrades/updates/enhancements

  • Assist in the coordination of special projects related to accounting, HR, and reporting systems

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports from the payroll system

  • Review corporate G&A statements for accuracy

  • Provide analysis to the financial reporting group for variances between budget and actual

  • Provide hands-on skills as well as big picture expertise to corporate accounting and payroll

  • Work with and motivate the payroll team to perform to their highest possible ability

  • Perform semi-annual reviews and annual performance appraisals

  • Provide supporting schedules for audits, reviews, and financial statement filings

  • Responsible to prepare and maintain annual budgets for the payroll department

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year Bachelors Degree: Accounting, HR, or related field

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred

  • 10 years Payroll experience

  • 3 years Payroll experience in large restaurant or retail industries (65,000+ employees)

  • 3 years Processing full cycle payroll in Workday

  • 7 years Previous supervisory or leadership experience

  • Multi-state and international payroll process experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • General understanding of system integrations and IT project management practices

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong knowledge and experience within Workday platform
