Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for all team members. 
  • Manage and support the payroll team, providing training, guidance, and development. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. 
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports. 
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. 
  • Prepare and file necessary payroll-related tax filings. 
  • Develop and document payroll policies and procedures. 
  • Develop and implement reporting tools to streamline payroll processes. 
  • Maintain a high level of customer service through timely resolution of escalated issues. 
  • Assist with research and resolution of complex payroll related matters. 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality for all payroll-related items. 
  • Support the Payroll Director in managing multiple project deliverables on time. 
  • Completes ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned by leadership. 

Education & Experience Qualifications 

  • High school diploma required 
  • Undergraduate/Graduate degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred 
  • Experience (3-5 years) in multi-state full cycle payroll with an emphasis on delivering cross-functional project management required 
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred, but not required 
  • Experience with Workday or comparable software required 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Strong computer skills 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail 
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, and meet critical deadlines 
  • Ability to work in a highly structured team environment 
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to outlined procedures 
  • Ability to have a flexible work schedule due to work volume fluctuations
