We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team!

The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of our team, responsible for performing core financial accounting tasks including cost recovery billings, monthly journals, capital assets accounting, payroll entries, HST payments and claims, review of transactional postings, monthly preparation of primary financial reports, and other tasks needed for full-cycle accounting. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the primary responsibility of the Senior Financial Analyst role will be to focus on cost recovery procedures requiring cost recovery analysis, allocation reviews, policy and procedure compliance reviews with the ability to liaise with other departments. This role will have exposure to investment finance and operations.

1. BAU Tasks & Close Process:

  • Daily operational activities – full cycle AP & AR for IMCO and all subsidiaries

  • Daily treasury functions – settlement, cash flow management, cash forecasting

  • Oversee Expense module and Corporate Credit Card process

  • Oversee month end accrual processes. Review accrual journal entries and month-end adjusting journal entries

  • Oversee bank account reconciliations and prepaids

  • Review and approve Balance Sheet account reconciliation schedules

  • Review procurement module in Workday. Review and approve new supplier set up.

  • Oversee Vendor Management – Requisitions, Purchase Order and Supplier Contracts Oversee supplier contract analysis report

  • Review consolidated internal and external audit supporting documentation

  • Collaborate day-to-day with Accounts Payable Analyst and Senior Financial Analysts Workday SME for all AR/AP/Manual Journal business processes

2. AR & Client Management:

  • Oversee new client on-boarding process in Workday

  • Review deferred revenue entry, regular CapEx entry and CapEx drawdown entry

  • Review client invoices for OPEX cost billing, Pool IM fee billing and Agency prepayment notices billing and other ad hoc billings to Clients

  • Review and approve variance analysis reports prepared by SFA to support client billing

  • Maintain solid relationship with Clients. Fulfill multiple clients’ requests on timely basis. 

  • Collaboration with Corporate Controller and Client Financial Services

3. Fixed Assets:

  • Fixed Asset module in Workday: register and assign accounting to capitalized invoices

  • Review Fixed Asset and ROU Assets. Review reconciliation schedules and depreciation schedules

  • Oversee deferred income accounts activities

  • Review journal entries submitted by SFA for lease liability and interest

  • Review and approve CapEx reconciliation schedule
     

4. Cost Management:

  • Review people cost related journal entries prepared by SFA, including LTIP, STIP, Retention, Vacation Liabilities, Pension, Payroll Reclass

  • Maintain reconciliation schedules for people cost Ledger Accounts and provide Monthly reconciliations to Corporate Controller

  • Oversee Strategic Project Module in Workday. Review and approve project cost tracking schedule and project cost analysis reports

  • Direct working relationship and ongoing collaboration with EPMO and Project PMs. Oversee cost tracking system for Investment Deals. Review and approve investment cost analysis reports

  • Enhance and build out Investment Cost Tracking and analysis function

  • Manage Agency cost tracking and reconciliation system

  • Oversee agency cost analysis reports and true up schedules to be provided to Clients upon approval

5. IMCO Subsidiaries – Pools/LP/GP:

  • Oversee transactions and reconciliation schedules related to all IMCO subsidiaries

  • Prepare supporting documents for financial reporting purpose and support Financial Reporting team

6. Audits: Working alongside the Corporate Controller in consolidating audit requests for Year End Audit, Internal Audit and SOC 1 Audit

Other: Workday SME for all enhancements and leading practice projects

What do you need to succeed?

  • University degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, or business-related discipline.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in corporate accounting within the financial services industry is required

  • Master’s degree, MBA or professional designation (CPA) is preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles, practices and procedures is required.

  • Demonstrated experience working with a key ledger system and prior participation in ledger implementation isconsidered an asset.

  • Experience in the asset management industry, financial services industry or a start-up is considered an asset. 

  • Prior experience with corporate finance applications is preferred. Experience with Workday Financial Management is considered an asset.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to independently multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong team player with high level of tact and diplomacy.

  • Strong time management skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy start-up environment and participating in the creation of foundational processes to scale-up the organization.

  • Excellent understanding and experience of accounting practices and principles and experience with balance sheet and income statement

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and learning new technologies

  • Superior communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships across the enterprise. 

  • Ability to successfully manage expectations of internal/external clients.
