Job Description:
The Economics Department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences seeks qualified applicants for an Administrative Assistant II to join a dynamic team supporting the full range of department activities. This individual will provide a variety of administrative support activities including working collaboratively with the department chair, department staff, faculty, and students. The successful candidate will respond to requests and inquiries on behalf of the Chair; liaise with other administrative offices, faculty, support staff, alumni, and the public; support content management on the department website; manage the building and space allocation; provide knowledge and guidance on university policy and procedures to faculty, staff, and students; support student workers and Graduate Assistantship appointments; make travel arrangements and plan itineraries for visitors; work on more complex assignments– such as assisting with ISSO Immigration and Residency applications– with general supervision; and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will be skilled in communications, organization, project management, follow-through, time-management, problem-solving, and planning. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to create a collegial, professional, collaborative and inclusive environment.

• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature

• Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
