Associate Specialist – Cost Control

Associate Specialist – Cost Control

Under general supervision, and occasional direct supervision, performs assignments requiring experience and knowledge of standard concepts within project controls for the preliminary or definitive estimates for projects. Displays core competencies by analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures while developing advanced skills.


This position will report to the Cost Principal, under the Program Planning and Control team. Will be responsible for applying knowledge and skills to complete detailed analysis of project and financial information.

  • Review, code, and approve purchase requisitions.
  • Confirm accuracy of obligated cost to project.
  • Perform weekly evaluation and validation of labor and non-labor related project cost. 
  • Accurate and timely completion of required internal and external reporting requirements.


  • Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and and a maximum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a related business discipline
  • Experience working in a government contracting environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) 
  • Cost Point, Cognos, OnBase, Deltek and WorkDay experience.
  • Must be capable of working independently under pressure with minimal supervision. 
  • Familiar with often changing deadlines, inquiries and related pressures and able to handle multiple tasks. 
  • Must interact well with all levels of Project Management and colleagues in other functional areas/departments. 
  • Demonstrated strong work ethics, mathematical/analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
