Position Summary:

In this highly visible financial planning and analysis role you will support Kemper Property & Casualty Finance team by creating management reports and presentations that translate data into meaningful information to facilitate tactical and strategic decision-making. The compilation, analysis and interpretation of financial data requires problem-solving mindset, attention to details and fact-based communication, so you will use your technical skills to design, develop, and implement management report and business applications to meet customer needs and goals.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support analysis of company financial performance, including both revenues, insurance losses and expenses. Interpret data and identify trends to help leadership understand drivers of results, make decisions, and develop strategy.

  • Working with different stakeholders, construct and maintain management financial and operating reports and models as tools to aid in data analysis. Conduct variance analysis using accounting data.

  • Prepare communications including reports that can be used for executive meetings, upper-level management reports and presentations.

  • Aggregate and organize financial data from multiple platforms and systems. Suggest procedural changes to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of models and reports used or produced by the team.

  • Document work processes, including data sources and definitions.

  • Regularly interact and coordinate with members of broader Kemper Finance team to address business issues and to meet organizational objectives.

Position Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or accounting experience.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or equivalent.

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong knowledge of financial statements (income statements, balance sheets and cash flows). Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance P&L preferred.

  • Ability to present information in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand way.

  • Team player with meticulous attention to details motivated to deliver high-quality accurate work.

  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize work and deliver on tight deadlines.

  • Structured in thinking process and strong problem-solving skills, the ability to break down complex problems and find solutions.

  • Ability to cope with uncertainty, learn fast, motivated by new and complex challenges, continuous improvement mindset.

  • Knowledge of insurance concepts and products preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of Workday, Adaptive and Tableau systems preferred but not required.
