The Human Resources Business Partner provides counsel on people needs across the Maritz Global Events business unit, including employee relations, employee engagement and retention, change leadership, performance management, leadership best practices, compensation strategies, and various special projects in close coordination with People & Development Leadership.

Reporting and Working Relationships

Reports directly to SVP, People & Development. Works with all departments and levels within the organization. Partners closely with Benefits, Payroll, Legal and HR professionals across the larger Maritz organization.

Primary Responsibilities

30% – Provides counsel to managers regarding performance management best practices, while reinforcing ongoing aspirational and performance coaching.  Fosters a culture that promotes engagement, teamwork, innovation and change implementation.  Partners closely with both employees and managers to support resolution of workplace grievances, participating in discussions as appropriate.  In doing so, provides timely investigation and response to claims; partnering with Legal as needed.  Maintains knowledge of industry trends and relevant employment litigation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to employee matters. 

 

25% – Creates and updates job descriptions in partnership with managers, reviewing market data and ensuring jobs are aligned appropriately in the organization and market. Provides counsel regarding organizational structure, equity adjustment requests, internal promotions, annual bonus and merit cycles. Closely collaborates with Talent Acquisition team in support of the recruitment process. In doing so, may assist with interviewing and/or other parts of the hiring process as needed.

 

25% – Contributes to the design and execution of short and long-term People & Development strategies throughout the employee lifecycle to positively impact business outcomes.  Such initiatives may include on-boarding strategies and recognition programs to ensure a positive, meaningful, effective and consistent employee experience. 

 

20% – Partners with leadership to prepare and proactively communicate vital messages and expectations to employees.  Provides support and trusted counsel to managers in the areas of employee engagement and retention.  Sets a positive example and role model of Maritz vision and values.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Human Resources Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology or Business.  

  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years Human Resources experience focused heavily within employee relations and compensation.

  • Proven experience in supporting employee engagement and positive culture required.

  • Working knowledge of Workday a plus; strong Microsoft Office technical skills required.

  • Strong time management skills; with the ability to handle changing priorities.

  • In-depth knowledge of Employment/Human Resources law required.
