JOB SUMMARY
Serves as a positive and energetic member of the athletics senior management team. Supports Department-wide strategic initiatives as well as the day-to-day administration. Incumbent is responsible for overseeing the area of NCAA Compliance ensuring adequate institutional control for our current varsity teams, twenty-two for the 22-23 Academic year. This position oversees all compliance efforts, providing assistance to the entire department in the areas of NCAA and conference rules interpretations, current and prospective student-athlete eligibility, investigating potential rules violations, transcript evaluations, and on and off campus recruiting activities. Serves as the primary institutional liaison regarding NCAA compliance efforts. NCAA policies and practices are numerous and may change on an annual basis.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate the education of student-athletes, coaches, institution personnel, representatives of athletics interests, and prospective Student-athletes with regard to NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and guidelines.

Provide follow-up instruction, education, and advising to student-athletes, coaches, institution personnel, representatives of athletic interests subsequently found to be in violation of any pertinent rules.

Administer the student-athlete guidelines, the Drug Test Consent, and other required NCAA forms and education.

Research and investigate any reported or suspected instances of NCAA and conference rule violations. Recommend and administer appropriate penalties.

Identify potential NCAA rules violations and report them to the Athletic Director and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR).

Develop policies and procedures to comply with NCAA and conference rules and regulations. Communicate the policies and procedures, monitor ongoing activity, direct and recommend action to correct deficiencies, and prepare reports.

Provide written and oral guidance, assistance, and interpretation to the university administration, coaches, staff, student-athletes, and representatives of athletic interest in regards to NCAA rules.

Represent the University at conferences and NCAA meetings concerning institutional compliance.

Assist in the development and delivery of rules education seminars for coaches and student-athletes.

Work closely with the national and conference offices in regard to NCAA Bylaws.

Work with various campus offices on initial and continuing eligibility certification for Student-athletes.

Monitor recruiting logs (unofficial and official visits).
-
In cooperation with the Athletic Director, monitor the scheduling process, verifying that the schedule meets NCAA and conference scheduling requirements, and missed class time policies.

Educate and monitor NCAA regulations governing student-athletes and, coaches involvement in camps and clinics.

Coordinate all NCAA appeals.

Ensure all changes to the Student-athlete Handbook, Operations & Compliance Manual are up-to-date.

Serves as a member of the Compliance Committee.

Is one of five individuals authorized to make contact with the NCAA membership services staff, in accordance with NCAA Constitution 5.4.1.2.1.2.

Conduct an audit of compliance systems.
-
Serve as a member of the senior management team and acts as a key decision-maker in the athletics department.

Educate the Student-athletes, coaches, and administration on issues of diversity and ensures compliance with all NCAA bylaws and guidelines for diversity.

Work with the Gender Equity Committee and assists with the preparation of the Equity in Athletics Report.

Provide knowledge and education of Title IX.

Advocate Student-athlete life balance through programs and initiatives to help them learn how to balance academics and athletics.

Work closely with Academic Advising and Records Office in the academic matriculation of Student-athletes.

Assist with compilation and reporting of the NCAA Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act each year.

Oversee the compilation and reporting of the NCAA Graduation Rates data, Sports Sponsorship report, financial audits/reports, Institutional Self-Study Guide (ISSG).

Serve as administrator for select varsity and club sports. Budgeting, oversight, and approval of expenditures throughout the fiscal year for assigned teams/programs

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s degree
-
Significant demonstrated experience in NCAA collegiate athletics compliance.
-
Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Master’s degree in a related field
-
Experience in monitoring compliance with NCAA rules and regulations
-
Demonstrated experience in establishing and monitoring policies and practices related to compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.

Experience in delivering and presenting educational topics related to compliance with a variety of constituents.
-
Experience with multi-relational databases, Frontrush and NCAA Compliance Assistant software.
-
3-5 years of experience working in collegiate athletics
Licenses or Certifications None.
Financial Responsibility
Oversees and helps manage sport program budgets along with the athletics department business manager according to University policies and procedures.
Supervision
Training, coaching, scheduling, and providing daily work direction to athletics staff employees. Mentor, set goals and provide formal performance evaluation for employees whom directly supervise.
Special Knowledge
Comfortable using products within Microsoft office. Familiarity with student information systems (Slate, Workday, Colleague, Starfish). Assessment Experience; experience managing large groups or teams. Workday experience is a plus.
