Why does this job exist and why is it critical?​

This role is responsible for maintaining end-to-end payroll operation and ensuring payroll/HR-related automation initiatives are effectively implemented and operated, especially in designing, developing and managing the continuous payroll/HR technologies and processes. The role will ensure quality service is provided to all employees and stakeholders. The practice has to align with the business’s policies, procedures, and legislative requirements; and help to enable People Services in payroll automation technologies and HR processes such as data analytics, Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

What are you accountable for?

Payroll Operation

  • Maintaining all aspects of payroll cycle delivery, including year-end payroll process and tax reporting. Ensure that all regular, supplemental and equity compensation transactions are correctly taxed and reported
  • Propose, improve and maintain effective payroll policies, procedures and controls
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the payroll process
  • Reconcile all payroll-related accounts
  • Assist with both internal and external audit exercise and implements corrective actions eliminating the root cause of issues as needed
  • Drive to improve the payroll and reporting process continuously
  • Responsible for maintaining processes associated with interfaces with third-party systems
  • Ad hoc projects as necessary

Payroll Automation

  • Analyse data and payroll/HR process requirements and translate them into automation design using applicable technologies, e.g. data analytics, RPA, AI
  • Develop, test, implement, operate and maintain data analytics and/or automation solutions using suitable tools or systems with satisfactory quality
  • Propose, improve and implement automated HR practices and procedures to meet business objectives and strategies
  • Strengthen and establish internal controls using automation solutions for audit and compliance
  • Manage and liaise with stakeholders to achieve desired automation process

What do you need to have for this role?

  • A minimum of 7 years of payroll and HR administration related experience
  • Knowledge and familiarity with local statutory and taxing requirements
  • Data Science / Data Analytics Certifications will be an added advantage
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good knowledge and experience with improving processes using automation tools (e.g. RPA, Microsoft Power Suite), databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL), data reporting and visualization tools (e.g. Google Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience in payroll migration, Workday system and knowledge/familiarity with local statutory and taxing requirements are a plus
  • Exhibits as positive can-do attitude and approach to responsibilities, meet new challenges and changes with an open mind, demonstrates commitment to the job
